• Marigold Bow had an imaginary friend named Jeffery. They did everything together. When Marigold would be feeling blue, Jeffery knew exactly how to cheer her up again. When Marigold was alone in the world, Jeffery would be her friend. But soon enough, Marigold got to the age where texting was a priority and girls no longer had coodies, so Jeffery disappeared.

When she entered high school, Marigold started having a liking for a certain guy on the soccer team. A few months later, they got together. But as usual, Marigold and her boyfriend frequently argued, about every night. Tears would turn her eyes red, ending in anger.
Then one day, Marigold's best friend came up to her, grabbed her hand, and ran. He never told her where they were going, instead asked if she'd hate him after she found out. "Of course not," she answered.

When he let go of her hand, they ended up in front of a supply closet. Marigold turned at her best friend for some answers, but he was no longer there. Ignoring his disappearance and confusion of the situation, she opened the supply closet. She gazed in the black room full of mops and brooms. Marigold was so confused in what she was supposed to see. Then as she blinked, she ended up in a room. Her boyfriend's room.

"What am I doing here?" She asked herself. Marigold's head turned to face the door as it opened. Her boyfriend walked in. It was too late to hide. Though, it's not like he noticed her anyway. She was trying so hard to get his attention, but anything she did, he just wouldn't react to it. She tried touching his arm, but her hand went through it like a ghost. Marigold jumped in shock.

Marigold was so confused and a little scared. She sat down next to his bed as she tried to figure out what was going on. As silence snuck in the room, a girl walked in and lay right next to him. What's going on? Marigold wanted to know. She never took her eyes off them for a second. The two were talking for the longest time, that Marigold got bored and dozed off. But as soon as she heard silence, her head propped up to see if anything was happening. This made her think why she was even there. She was sitting next to his bed for 4 hours, and nothing was even stirring up.

Why'd he even want me to see this?

"So what are you gonna do? Break up with her?" The girl asked him.

"I don't want to, but we're just arguing all the time." He answered her.

    "Why?"

"I don't know. For stupid reasons."

"Just talk to her about it." She suggested.

"I try all the time! But then we get in another fight."

"Well, promise yourself that you won't get in another fight with her, and I guarantee you won't."

A smile came upon Marigold's face. Though, that smile went away as soon as she saw a familiar face. Jeffery's face. Her best friend. He just appeared right in front of her the bed with a knife in hand.

"Jeffery, what are you doing?" Marigold panicked, getting up to stop him. But there's no way she could. Her body's like a ghost. "Jeffery, no! I love him!"

Jeffery lifted the knife in the air, ready to plunge. "I love you, Marigold!" Jeffery spoke his last words.

Tears grew in Marigold's eyes, and as she wiped them dry, she recognizes the supply closet in front of her. She continues to cry. "He's gone!" She cries out as her hands cover her red face.

Realizing it may all have been a dream, she runs all around the school, asking people if they've seen him, but no one's ever heard of him. She falls to her knees, feeling her hot tears slide down her cheeks. Everyone came up to her in worry, but the truth was never told.
Bawling, she wondered, did he even exist at all?

The mind is very powerful. Be careful.
