It’s breathtakingly sad,
Because I really did try.
Even though you thought
All I did was lie.
I tried to give you my heart,
But your hands were closed.
I tried to you give you a smile,
But you said it was posed.
I tried to open up,
But you backed away.
I tried to write notes,
But you had nothing to say.
“It’s not my fault!”
I have to shout,
That when I died,
Your lips mimicked a pout.
“Why can’t I feel?”
You said I was to blame.
But I knew the real answer,
You just remained the same
While I ventured out
And conquered my fears.
It wasn’t all a party, you know,
Sometimes there were tears.
Sometimes I was angry,
I could get so mad,
But, overall,
It made me glad.
Why can’t you see that?
Why I took my life…
You were all about yourself,
And your own strife.
Now you sit and ponder
The decisions I made,
Why I can’t seem to leave,
Why my memory won’t fade.
So take out my picture
And put it on your mirror,
Don’t worry, love,
You have nothing to fear.
That smile you see
Is decayed and rotten.
“What’s her name?” you think,
I’m so easily forgotten.
You brought it on yourself,
All this pain.
Tonight you’re dead,
Your heart was slain.
