“By the way, where’d you get the idea to use ice like that?” “That woman used the same thing on me, so I figured I could use it too.” We crossed the bridge over the pool of water came into another polished marble room lit by shining crystals, but there was no pool of water in this room. It was solid stone from wall to wall with a small set of stairs leading down to a wide open floor, and on the other side was another small flight of stairs leading up to another marble door. “So,” Aqua started, “where’s Scorpio?” She walked down the small flight of stairs, and, the moment she laid foot on the wide open floor a wall of light stretched out in front of us separating Aqua from us. “Let the second trial begin,” bellowed a voice through the room. “Where did it come from,” Chris said in alarm. “Look up,” Kane responded. We all gazed up at the ceiling, and a giant scorpion gazed right back at us. Ruby screamed, Terra’s eyes began to bulge, Chris stood in complete shock unable to move, Eric began babbling out of control, and Aqua stood there looking up at Scorpio. “She has to fight that,” I panicked at Kane. “Yes,” he replied keeping an icy stare on Scorpio. “So, just watch.” Scorpio dropped down with a crash upon the marble floor. “That thing’s as big as cancer,” Terra muttered. “Aqua,” I yelled, but she merely stood there in shock with her broken spear at her side. Scorpio’s body began changing, shrinking like Cancer’s body. Its tail dropped from its body, its shell like skin formed a human shaped armor on the form it took, and its pincers became powerful hands coated by its dark shell. Then Scorpio picked up its fallen tail and whipped it forward. “A strike from my whip will finish you,” Scorpio said coldly. “Be careful,” Kane called out. “His poison will finish you instantly.” “Look out,” Ruby cried. Aqua instantly slammed the broken spear into the marble floor as Scorpio’s whip lunged out for her. A wall of ice spiked up from the floor and blocked the whip’s path causing the wall to shatter. “Nice defensive skills,” Scorpio commented, “but are you the one fighting this trial?” Aqua’s eyes sparked in shock. “So, Leviathan is guiding you,” said Scorpio in realization, “but that will not be enough to pass this trial.” Scorpio’s whip split into two, then four, and then into eight separate lashes. “I will finish you.” The eight lashes of Scorpio’s whip began moving on their own, slowly wavering left and right. Then they lashed up from the floor dashing and diving from wall to wall, the ceiling to the floor, and off the barrier chipping the marble completely out of control. “How is he doing that,” I shouted over the destruction. “Scorpio’s tail is very powerful,” Kane started. “It can divide, extend, and move on its own accord.” “We can see that,” Chris and Ruby shot at Kane. “Why is it out of control,” Eric asked. “It’s not,” Kane answered. “What,” Terra said in awe. “Aqua’s power needs water to manifest before an attack or defense. The lashes are detecting every manifestation and eliminating her every attempt.” “No way,” I muttered. “If she’s going to win this trial, then she needs to find a way to make the most of her abilities.” “The most,” Aqua muttered. “That’s it! Center!” “It’s getting colder,” I said as my breath frosted before me. “What is this,” Scorpio yelled. The air around Aqua began to swirl into a small light in front of her as ice slowly began to wrap around her until it finally covered her in a thick, frigid, white suit of icy armor. “Absolute temperature,” Scorpio muttered in awe as his whip stopped above him. Aqua dashed forward, charging for Scorpio. Then all eight lashes dove for Aqua. “Look out,” Eric yelled. “AQUA,” we all cried. “She’s okay,” Kane said flatly. Okay? You call that OKAY!? ‘He’s right,’ Pholadin’s voice echoed. ‘Look.’ The lashes instantly turned white and shattered upon contact with Aqua’s new armor. “No,” Scorpio cried. Then Aqua raised her broken spear also covered by the white ice and slammed Scorpio from where it stood to the marble door on the other side of the room leaving it covered in frost. “What was that,” Eric instantly blurted out as Kane walked by. “The barrier is down,” Kane said as he walked across the marble floor. “Oh, right,” I said as I followed. The ice surrounding Aqua cracked and shattered leaving her back in that nautical outfit and the broken spear as nothing more than a wooden stick as she fell to her knees in a heavy breath.
