“How is she going to fight that thing,” I asked Kane in panic. “She won’t fight it like that,” Kane answered. We all stared at Kane for a second. “And, why,” Chris shot at Kane. “Cancer is…is…,” Terra broke off in a look of shock. Our attention swerved around back to the giant crab that began shrinking, compressing, and molding before our eyes. “I’m going to be sick,” Ruby muttered. “That’s disgusting,” Eric squirmed. I’m about to lose my lunch… Oh for the love of… “I wonder if that’s how they do that in the movies,” Chris said comfortably, as he touched his finger to his chin. Cancer’s body kept shrinking and molding until it became something that took on a human shape. Its shell looked like armor that covered the body heavily, the claws became smaller, and Cancer’s head was now covered in a full helm resembling a crab’s body. “That’s enough to make my skin crawl,” Aqua responded as she covered her mouth. Cancer charged forward and threw his clawed fist at Aqua. Aqua narrowly escaped, letting Cancer’s claw hit the marble floor shattering the stone into several directions. Then Aqua thrust her spear into it at lighting speed only to have her blade removed from the pole by Cancer’s claw leaving her stunned. “That’s it,” Cancer bellowed as its claw sent Aqua flying into the marble wall at our left with her broken spear. “What a pathetic excuse for a knight.” Cancer began walking over to Aqua. “Get up Aqua,” I shouted and banged on the barrier. “Try something else!” “Come on,” Ruby cheered. “It’s useless,” said Cancer, as it lifted Aqua with its crab red claw. “And, I will not have her running amuck in town.” “And, you fall for it,” Aqua instantly replied, as frost covered Cancer’s claw. “What!?” Cancer lost its grip on Aqua, and she was on her feet again brandishing her broken spear. “My turn,” Aqua yelled. Ice and frost gathered at the broken tip of her spear and formed a giant hammer. Our eyes widened at the size of it, as Eric blurted out, “GET’EM!!!” “Yeah,” Ruby yelled. “Make crab cakes out of him!” Then, with one major pound, Aqua left Cancer flat on its back crushed like a pancake. “Great something else we need to watch out for,” Chris moaned. Sadly, I have to agree. This could mean harsher punishments. ‘Punishments? You’re joking, right,’ Pholadin’s voice rang in my head. “The barrier’s down,” I shouted as it dropped. ‘Don’t ignore me!’ Look, if you hang around, you’ll find out. One way or another. Aqua’s hammer melted away, and Cancer slowly picked itself up. “That was unexpected,” said Cancer, “and very cold.” We ran to Aqua’s side. “I’ll open the door then,” Cancer continued as it walked toward the pool of water before the door. “Kane.” “Yes,” Kane replied. “You realize he’s acting from inside the seal.” “I know. This will be the last chance we have.” Cancer jumped into the pool, and a bridge extended from beneath the door. Then the door opened with the sound of grinding stone. “Kane,” Aqua called out. “What’s going on? Do you know Cancer? And, what do you mean last chance?” “Cancer knows my family’s heritage as guides for the knights,” Kane answered, “so he keeps track through the energies around here.” “Knights,” Chris’ eyebrow shot up. “That thing that killed the others before you was sealed up after the last battle, but now it acts beyond the seal. And, by the laws of this world, this is the seventh and final attempt to save this world.” “And, what happens if we fail,” Eric asked. “This world will connect to Earth and allow Kaijin to enter mixing imagination with reality.” Kane turned from us and walked to the next door. “Come on, Scorpio is waiting.” Everyone followed Kane, but I gripped Aqua’s hand and kept her for a second. “Are you okay,” I asked. “I’ve been better,” she replied. “Cancer hits really hard.” I closed my eyes and imagined light. Light that could heal just by radiating on the people it touches, and I opened my eyes to find my crystal dimming. “Thanks,” said Aqua. “Now let’s go.”
