The two of them stayed in their embrace until they heard some giggling coming from behind the counter.
“Alright, come out of there.” Carina crossed her arms waiting for an appearance, her cheeks turned pink in embarrassment.
Laura, Valerie, and Zack slowly raised their heads up from behind the counter. “Nick told us to tell you to come into the living room for some very important news.” Laura said, batting her eyelashes at them.
“Sorry to break up the fun!” Valerie said between giggles.
“How scandalous!” Zack squealed in a girly voice.
“Ok, now get out of here.” Carina couldn’t hide her smile no matter how hard she tried. Her face was now turning bright red. The two girls scurried out with Zack close behind making fake high pitched giggles.
Carina put a hand on her forehead and said with a sigh, “Those three are such a handful.”
“Well, shall we go see what this very important news is?” Harrold held out his hand for Carina to take. Carina laughed, took his hand, and smiled up at him. Harrold was glad to see that the sparkle had come back into her bright green eyes.
When the two of them made it into the living room, the children weren’t giggling anymore. They were looking anxiously at Nicolas who was pacing back and forth reading a something on a piece of paper and slowly shaking his head.
“What’s going on?” Carina asked as they sat down across from the kids.
“This is bad.” Nicolas said in a very worried voice. “This is bad, this is really bad.”
“What’s bad?” Valerie asked.
“Whatever it is, I’m sure we can handle it, right Nick?” Laura asked. There was an edge of nervousness in her voice
“This letter is from the queen.” Harrold didn’t think anything was wrong with that until he saw the looks on everyone’s faces. Laura and Valerie gasped. Zack’s expression turned into a very angry one. Carina’s eyes widened a bit and she asked angrily, “What does she want?”
“She says,
‘I know you have something I want, and in turn I have something you want. I’m feeling generous today so I will make you a deal. We can trade. Give me what I want, and I’ll give back what’s yours. It’s as simple as that. If you are willing, come to the fountain on April 20th. If you refuse, you’ll never see what is yours again! No funny business or else.’
But what does that mean?” Nicolas threw the letter onto the coffee table in frustration.
“Well we obviously know what it is she wants.” Valerie rolled her eyes.
“Ok, I am totally lost here. Who is this person and what is she talking about?” Harrold asked.
“Didn’t you explain it to him?” Nicolas asked Carina. The fact that Harrold was clueless seemed to add to Nicolas’s frustration.
“I was getting to it! There was a lot of stuff going on ok?!” Carina leaned back in her chair and crossed her arms.
“Well, now would be a good time to clue him!” Nicolas said.
“Ok! Keep your shirt on!” Carina took a deep breath and started her explanation.
ok this is fun cuz now harrolds past will b revealed!!!!! after the next page pretty much everything will b cleared up.
