It was now the nineteenth. Tomorrow was the day of the “trade off”. Everyone had agreed that they should get a good night’s sleep before they came up with a plan for what to do about Derrick’s situation. Now that most of them were up and had their breakfast, they all met in the living room to come up with a plan to save Derrick, and possibly themselves.
“All right,” Nicolas said once everyone was seated. “So did anybody come up with any ideas last night?”
“Don’t you think we should wait until Zack joins us?” Laura asked.
“He was on such a sugar high last night that he didn’t get to bed until late. Maybe we should let him sleep a bit more.” Harrold said, laughing as he remembered Nicolas chasing Zack all around trying to get him to go to sleep.
“Yeah but still, he might be able to contribute. And don’t you think he’ll get mad if he’s left out of anything?” Carina said.
“Yeah, I’ll go get him.” Nicolas sighed as he left the room. Valerie and Laura had gone into their own little world almost at once, chatting happily. Harrold turned to Carina and figured it looked as though she was thinking the same thing he was.
“You’re worried about Derrick too?”
“Yeah, I really do feel like it’s my—”
“Don’t. It wasn’t your fault. Derrick and I are practically brothers, I know him better than anyone and he’s always been able to worm his way out of the worst punishments. He’ll be fine; he can take care of himself.” Harrold said with a smile.
“But this isn’t just a punishment from the school principal. This is serious.” Carina fiddled with the zipper on her jacket. Harrold sighed and leaned back in his chair.
“To tell you the truth, I kinda feel like it’s my fault too.” Harrold admitted. “He’s always been there for me and I feel like I really let him down.”
“I seriously doubt that it was either of your faults.” Valerie had obviously tuned into their conversation.
“I just want to know how Madrina got her hands on him in the first place.” Laura thought aloud.
“We know how.” Carina muttered without looking up.
“We were at the hospital, trying to come here apparently.” Harrold explained.
“It turns out that one of the doctors was really one of Madrina’s lackeys who had come to kill Harrold. He caught us trying to escape from the hospital.”
“Derrick and Carina tried to stop him, even though Derrick was totally against the whole thing.”
“Why was Derrick against it?” Laura asked.
“He was afraid for Harrold’s health. He thought that if we snuck out of the hospital Harrold wouldn’t be able to heal properly.”
“He must be a really good friend to worry like that.” Valerie and Laura both nodded their heads at Valerie’s comment.
“Anyways, I was dragged off to another room.” Harrold continued.
“And I was trying to figure out what to do when Derrick got annoyed at how wouldn’t tell him why I wanted to break Harrold out. He decided to leave since he didn’t want to help Harrold leave anyway. So I got into Harrold’s room and we were about to leave when Doctor Skippy came back.”
“Who’s Doctor Skippy?” Valerie and Laura said together.
“That was what Derrick called Madrina’s dumb follower.” Carina smiled at the memory.
“So Doctor Skippy started going crazy and was about to knock Carina’s block off when Derrick walked right in the door. The next thing we know, Doctor Skippy grabbed Derrick and they both disappeared.” Harrold finished.
After a while, Valerie asked, “What’s Derrick like?”
“He’s crazy!” Carina’s eyes seemed to light up as they started to talk about Derrick’s silly personality. “Remember when we first saw him at the hospital, what he gave you?” Carina asked Harrold after she stopped laughing.
“Oh yeah, he gave me a balloon that said, ‘It’s a girl!’ It cracked me up! He said the store was out of get well soon balloons.” They all started to laugh. At that moment, Nicolas came into the room with a very groggy looking Zack.

somebody in my b iology class asked mr. wallace if he could do the carlton dance. it was so FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAA........ eek in my dream last nite my mom gave me a new blue toothbrush and then i woke up and i realized i didn't get a new blue toothbrush that was just a dream so i got sad. true story.
