Then Lady Ellie and Abriel arrived and everything changed.
After the hubbub of getting the refugees safely out of Raksekey had subsided Ellie noticed the purple-eyed Yasha in passing and asked Abriel to keep an eye on her as Ellie felt she had potential. Okay, he says.
8 year old Yasha was shyly eating with Kiko and Faylin as she did when she was invited to do so and Faylin introduced her to Abriel.
Yasha lived by herself in a ramshackle hut on the outskirts of the village. She’d been invited to live with Kiko and Faylin but didn’t feel worthy.
Also as she couldn’t control her change form and abilities she felt it would be too dangerous for them. She is quite startled when Abe asks if he can share her house in exchange for teaching her how to control and develop her abilities and the other villagers (including Faylin) too if they were willing to learn.
The villagers soon accept the offered training as when it comes to their mental abilities the only one that can even half keep pace with him is Faylin and that’s purely due to her being Dhampir.
His 2nd best pupil is little Yasha. He isn’t afraid of her and encourages her. She becomes his apprentice and takes over his domestic work. He is a little startled but Kiko tells him to let it slide. To do so is customary for an apprentice.
He becomes like a beloved elder brother to her.
