Lynx's journal (if he were to have kept one)
This journal logs the day to day events of Lynx's life after the fall of Norlias. He was released from his service as guardian of the royal family of Norlias prior to its demise.
Lynx's Memories: Wartime in Norlias Part II
Here's part 2...

The first to attack me is a rather large man with a crudely made axe. The axe was a sharpened rock stabbed into a thick branch. Although it is a crude and unelegant weapon, it has served him well in the battle thus far. The blood on the stone proves this. He charged at me with his axe raised high above his head. this man was approaching seven feet in height and had outrageously bulking muscles. When he got close enough I quickly drew my blade, slashed at his abdomen, and ducked down simultaneously so that he would continue to run past me. Once past me, I lept into the air, sheathing my sword and landing on his back. He was distracted by his innards protruding from his gut so I brought him a quick end by thrusting two claws into the back of his neck at the base of his head. I kicked off of him, sumorsaulting in the process and dispatched another enemy by applying my sword to his neck. Although primitive compared to us, the barbarian military had some strategy. All of the close range warriors did as expected and the long range units created a half-circle around one side of the battle and provided support fire at the sound of a horn. When this horn was blown, the meelee fighters would take cover as a shower of arrows rained down. I suppose it would be a good tactic is the barbarian warriors had more effective armor or shields. They wore mainly leather armor and had poorly made makeshift shields so when the arrows came they lost more men than we would. Norlian warriors were, as they say, armed to the teeth. They wore full plate armor including helmets. Each warrior carried two shields, a large rectangular shield that was curved longways and a small round shield for when the first shield is lost. Their plate armor is a silvery color unlike mine which is black. The soldiers also wore chainmail underneathe the platemail. Each soldier carried an average sized sword in addition to whatever other weapons he wishes to carry into battle. Armements regardless, the barbarians outnumber the Norlians greatly and victory is within grasp. However, with me now in the fray the scale will tip in our favor. I swiftly move across the battlefield easily dispatching foe after foe by simply dodging their weapons and landing a fatal blow. I can hear shouts and cheers of Norlain warriors as I fight. This is not the first time I fought alongside the Norlian army and they are grateful to have me fighting on their side. Soon to my dismay, I heard the barbarian horn sound for their archers to open fire. I watched the sea of arrows rise from the edge of the city. I quickly took cover behind a building. The shots were fired from the western side of the city so hiding behind a tall enough building would make their arced shots ineffective. When the arrows stopped falling, I peeked from cover to assess the additions to the ever increasing body count. There was a noticable increase in dead bodies lying about. A few poor souls were pierced by many arrows and yet did not meet a quick end. One Norlian soldier called for aid, his thigh was pierced by an arroy. Fortunately this was the only wound he suffered fro the volley. The warriors from both sides were returning to battle and this warrior in particular was vulnerable but his wound was not mortal. As I rushed to his aid I wondered why he removed his leg armor, it is ironic how that is the only location where he was wounded. I grabbed his arm and helped him to his feet. With his arm over my shoulder, he hopped as I walked as quickly as i could without straining the wounded Norlian. About 120 yards away from the castle gates we were stopped by some of our soldiers. "Back to battle with you, great warrior..." one of them said, "you can provide better assistance there." I nodded and left the wounded soldier in their care and headed for the thick of battle. With every felled opponent, our victory came more within reach...
