• ~Chapter One~
Lyric Versandle, 13 year old female, looks ou the living room window glumly.
Rain, Still. She thinks to herself. Why must we always have rain?
"Stop moping around!" Lyric's step-mother Lauren, yells from inside the kitchen. "Seeing you all depressed and what not is really screwin' up my ora. Now go outside or something."

Lyric removed her gaze and from the window and looked at Lauren.
    "Hello? Raining!"

"So?" Lauren replied. "Raini son eof the best type of moisturizer! You could use it too, your so damn ashy!"

"Whatever." Lyric murmered as she rolled her eyes and re-fixed her eyes on the rainy window.

A long, quite moments passed. Lyric lost herself in the rain. In a quite, serene place with no sounds but the soft pit-pat of rain drops against a window pane. Lyric was thrust out of this Euphoric place with the sound of Lauren's yelling.
"Food's ready!" Immediately after, Lyric heard hard thumps of feet running down stairs.

"Ha! I won!" Lyric's father, Dave exclaimed while running into the dining room.

"No fair! You cheated!" Lyric's younger brother Ian exclaimed running into the kitchen after his father.

"Did not!" Dave said teasingly sticking his tounge out.

"Now settle down both of you! I swear it's like I married a child!" Lauren ordered swiping some hair out of her face.

"Hey! Isn't that why you married me? Aside from my irresistible looks?"

"What ever helps you sleep at night..."

"So what are we eating?" Ian asked.

"Fried Chicken with Risotto Balls and Lemonade."

"Sounds great!" Dave said as he dug into his food.

"HEY!" Lauren yelled as she slapped Dave's hand. "You know that we gotta thank the Creator for this food."

    "Yeah Dad!" Ian said smart-mouthedly.

    "Hey! Watch it Ian."

"Yes sir." The family said thier Thanks and began to eat.

"So do you think you'll be able to make it to work tomorrow Dad?" Ian questioned. Dave cast a nervous glance at Lauren and then looked back at Ian.

"Most likely not son. You know this rain is getting pretty bad." He glanced at Lauren again who was staring at him with a displeased look.
"They say it might... even progress... into... a... flood."

"A FLOOD?" Lauren yelled. "Gawd dammit Dave! If it has a chance of becoming a flood then you need to get your a** out there and work while you still can!"

"Ren! There are young children present!"

"So? Maybe Ian should hear this! Maybe Ian should know exactly how lazy his father is!"

    "Ren!"

    *DING DONG*

    "I'll get it!" Ian called out cheerfully. He got up from the table and ran to the front door. He opened the door and gave his warmest smile and said;
    "Versandle residence! How may I-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

Ian dropped to the floor. The whole family got up from the table.

    "IAN!"
