• Love. That what made her who she is, but who she will be will be determined by something else. Something much stronger and deeper than love. And as she sits there beside the person she knows and wants and they laugh together they see in each other’s eyes the hope. The hope of something more than what they have, of what they'll become. She's beautiful. He's beautiful. Both in their own way and they can see through each other’s souls and to what's inside their hearts. But as they stare at each other they wonder what happens next? Her eyes shine like the stars in the night sky, his like the sparkling black water that that reflects upon. They know what they want but how to get it is the knowledge they seek. And sitting there alone hearing the crashing of the waves she starts to cry as he hands her a rose and grabs her softly to kiss her gently on the cheek. She looks out into the ocean and starts to walk slowly to the shore, and as he follows her he grabs her hand and stands beside her where he will stay forever. But threes a part of her that’s been kept a secret from him, a part of her that no one knows. As she looks at him with wide innocent eyes she knows that she will tell him someday but not now. This wasn’t the time. She would tell him when it became necessary. But until that day came she would plan to never tell him, she couldn’t. Eyes open, wide awake. Her days were usually like this; on the run from her life, from herself. Long restless nights were the hardest. She lay there all alone, scared and cold. No one to tell her they loved her, to hold her and comfort her. She knew in her heart that something more lay ahead, to not be alone forever but to find her way through all her troubles. She had what most people yearned for, faith. But those dark and quite nights gave her time to think. She was a troubled soul. Never told she was good enough, never told she was beautiful. She was all alone in the world. No one got her sense of style, her personality, no one got HER. How she acted made her who she was. And she would change for no one. She got to California as fast as she could, it was a hard journey but she had to do it for her safety. She didn’t like the constant change in weather but if it meant being able to live a decent life away from her greatest fears she would have to adjust. After half a year of living in California she met someone. Someone who would change her perspective of life. He was the first and only person ever in her life to make her feel good about which she was. He was the most amazing man she had ever met. At night they would go down to the beaches even when it was 40 degrees and just sit there for hours talking. And she would lie in his arms and he would slowly rock her back and forth creating the image of her in a boat free away from anyone and anything and swaying on the ocean looking up at the stars with the man she loved and trusted with her heart. He knew that this image was her dream, and he wanted what was best for her. But they couldn’t afford a boat to live on. So it would stay a dream, and hope. They eventually could afford a little house on the beach, secluded from people, Just the way she liked it. He always told her how he would stay by her side forever, and how she was sacred in his heart. She believed him. She went for a walk on the beach shore alone which she rarely did. She hated being away from her him but sometimes she needed her privacy just to think. She would think about her past and her family but she didn’t like to because it brought up bad and painful memories. Occasionally when she did go out and didn’t come back for a while he would find her by one rock, always the same rock, crying. He hated to see her cry but he couldn’t help but see something in her soul and eyes when she cried. She cried with a passion like she had a reason to cry. He didn’t know her past at all but he could tell there was a mystery to it. When these rare occasions happened she would cry for hours and he would hold her until she stopped, she would not speak one word until she stopped crying then she would look up to see him there perfectly positioned with her in his arms to feel the heat generating from his body and kiss him passionately until he gently squeezed her arms and pushed her away and shed whisper in his ear breathing heavily, “My heart, is with you forever.” And he would reply with a kiss on the nose and he would say slow and soft, “I know, and I will keep it protected.” She had nightmares often, mostly about her past but one lonely night she had a dream. She lay there perfectly still and in a trance when it started. Her dream was about a boy maybe 12 or 13 years old and he was walking on the shore she walked on many times before. He would be walking back towards her and then all of a sudden he would stop and anxiously turn around with eyes wide and start running towards her. He would then scream but she couldn’t hear his voice only the wave’s crash and the wind blowing her hair. She screams back to the boy but no sound is coming out. When the dream was over she was scared to open her eyes because she had a feeling. Something was going to happen that would make everything wrong again. Her life with her love would end soon she would have to leave and she wasn’t ready for that. And before she opened her eyes she felt for him, her love, to make sure he was right beside her and grabbed him colder to her. Then she knowing she would regret it opened her eyes slowly and turned her head around. As she looked deeply into the boys eyes she got up from the bed and she quickly said, “Ok.” The little boy walked outside by her rock. She wanted to wake her love but she wasn’t sure if she should just yet. She thought, what if I’m still dreaming? So she followed the little boy alone to her rock. She sat next to him but he didn’t say a word. She didn’t like to talk much either but she knew something was wrong and she needed to know. Her voice cracking yet so softly you could barely hear it whispered, “My name is Jaclyn.” The boy did nothing. She tried talking to him again hoping to get a response this time. “What you said earlier, what did you mean by that? But if you need help I’m here. I need to know what the problem though” There was a short silence and he turned to look at her. His eyes reminded her if her own eyes; they were amazing dark black but sparkled like stars in the black sky. The moment she saw his eyes she knew why he was here, what his name was, how he got there, everything. She knew he had grown up like she had. A terrible way that she wished upon no one. But he had been having dreams about her for a long time now, all when he’s running towards Jaclyn and she’s standing there and when he reaches her she grabs him in her arms and whispers to him, “I’ve got you, your safe now.” And he felt comfort and a sense of love that he never felt before when he dreamed. When he slept was the only time in his life he felt safe. He needed to find Jaclyn because he was in trouble and she comforted him. But there was something Jaclyn was afraid of when she was filled with all this information. The boy had the same secret she had and was keeping from her love and if they wanted to help him her love would have to know the secret. She sat there with the boy and stared out at the ocean thinking about how to tell her love when he woke. All of a sudden he walked out of the doors and looked at Jaclyn and started walking closer, She started to hyperventilate and he ran to her side only to see that the boy was already in his spot cuddled up next to her. She calmed herself enough to talk and then said hesitantly, “Matt this is Hakon, he needs our help.” Matt looked at Hakon saw his amazing eyes and replied, “OK” Hakon didn’t let Matt see what they were both hiding from him. Jaclyn needed to tell him. Jaclyn was afraid to tell Matt, this part of her life had always been a mystery but now that she was helping t Hakon she needed to accept that there would be no secrets any longer. They walked inside to get warmer and Jaclyn looked down with a tear running down her cheek, “Matt, I’ve always kept this part of my life a secret from you. To protect you but you need to know now. I and Hakon share something in common, something that has been kept a secret for many years. The family I was born into is part of a society. There were many other society’s where I lived but no one from came into each other’s land. They all lived there secluded from each other in peace. But bad things happen in these societies. It was very rare when someone In the societies was born with a gift, but it did happen. These people were supposed to be destroyed. Hakon can’t speak but he can allow anyone he chooses to know everything about him or certain things or what he’s thinking. He has a gift. I too have a gift. And I was told my gift was rare and only one person had ever had it before. But I was never told my gift, I was supposed to be destroyed but my parents kept me a secret form the society. They wanted to use me to take over the society. They were bad people, the kind who would kill a child blame someone else get away without getting caught and then do it again. As soon as I was old enough to escape I did. And I moved here to California away from my home in Canada.” Matt looked scared which scared Jaclyn but he said, “what does this have to do with Hakon? Why does he need our help?”’ Jaclyn looked at Hakon and then tilted her head towards Matt. Hakon looked deeply into Matt’s eyes for a long second and then looked away quickly. Matt now knew about Hakon running away from the society as Jaclyn did, he knew that Hakon had nowhere else to go. And he knew what made Jaclyn afraid the most, another girl had been born with the same gift as Jaclyn. This girl was her sister and they needed to find her, now. This was important
