• Chapter 1: Who am I?
NO37 awoke to the sound of birds chirping, and the babbling of a brook nearby. He had dark red wings, about as tall as he was, his wings connected to his body near the shoulder blades, but his upper back area was covered in an armor-like exoskeleton, so you wouldn’t be able to know if he had shoulder blades. His hair was a black that looked as if it could swallow you up, it was spiked backwards and stood there, as if rock-solid. He had blood red markings going down from his eyes to the bottom of his jawbone, straight through the middle of his cheek. His mouth looked normal enough, but he did have two very long very sharp fangs going down to his chin. His most noticeable feature was his claws, huge claws of a demon, made of the same sort of endoskeleton-like skin, they were easily large enough to crush a man’s torso, the claws began at a spike where his elbow would normally be, and went down to his wrist, there was no hard, bony skin on the inside of his arm until about halfway between his wrist and his elbow. NO37 had large claws in place of feet, like that of a large bird, and they could crush a man’s head, and he could use them to grip anything that a normal hand could. The experimental facilities doctor had given him clothes, a dark trenchcoat, a hat to keep his face covered, and a pair of plated leggings, black of course, Doctor Floyd had even modified the clothing so that NO37’s wings and claws weren’t in a bad position. He leaned back against the tree he had been sleeping on and began to ask himself the same questions he had done the night before. ‘Is my only purpose to kill? Is what they told me true? So many questions, none of which could be answered by those machines at the lab. But the most important is: Who am I? They didn’t tell me my name. Perhaps I have no name, perhaps I have nothing tying me down to the world except my questions. All I know is that Mr. Rayne, whoever that is, began my existence, he will either answer my questions or he will try to capture me, I will find him, whatever he does, wherever he is.’ His thoughts were interrupted by a rustling in one of the bushes nearby. “You can’t sneak up on me!” He jumped to the bush, prepared to stab on of his gargantuan claws through the bush when suddenly, “Please don’t kill me! I’m not an enemy!” NO37 pulled the leaves aside and saw a girl, around 8, huddled on the ground, eyes shut, but she realized he hadn’t killed her… yet, and opened her eyes, she saw a creature like no other, but she did not cringe, instead she realized he was lost and alone. “H-hello, my name is Nina, w-what is yours?”

    Chapter 2: Nina
“I… I don’t have a name…” NO37 replied. “Everyone has a name, what do people call you?” Nina questioned again. “I was… Number 37 of project Leon.” NO37 answered. Nina thought for a moment, then said, “Then we will call you Leon.” And she said it as if the moment it was said it was true, and for a moment NO37 I mean, Leon, thought she could manipulate emotions, but that would be impossible. Leon studied her for a moment, then realized she was shivering. “Come over here, I have a fire.” He offered. Nina looked up, then said, “I don’t want to be any trouble.” “It’s no trouble, I can make a bigger fire if there isn’t room.” Nina smiled, “Ok, you convinced me.”
A little later there was a large fire crackling, and Nina was fast asleep, leaving Leon to his thoughts once again. ‘This girl, she doesn’t fell like a normal human, something is off about her, but I can’t tell what.’ He took some time to look at the stars, and eventually he too, fell asleep.
Nina woke up and looked around the small camp, Leon was nowhere to be seen. “Aww, he left.” She sat there for some time wishing people wouldn’t leave when Leon stepped through the trees with a bag of fish slung over his shoulder. “I thought you might like some breakfast.” He said. Nina smiled a little and agreed. While they were eating Leon studied Nina more closely, she had silver hair with blue around the edges, her face had a twinkle to it that made anyone who wasn’t quite as cold-hearted as Leon had come to be in his 3 days of existence want to go “Aww, how cute.” She was wearing a tattered set of clothes that looked like servants clothes, she was all in all, a normal human. After the good breakfast Leon announced that he was going into the town he had seen nearby, but that Nina couldn’t come with him. “But why?” she questioned. “Because there might be bandits and I don’t want people treating you differently because of me.” He answered. Leon was going through one of his conversations with Floyd in his head once again. ‘You aren’t quite perfect though, for all your strength 37, you do need one important thing: Blood, Human blood. If you don’t have it your molecular structure will break down and you will die. We are going to send you out tonight to hunt the locals, but don’t worry, they can’t hurt you.’ “I have to drink human blood.” He said to himself, he was almost nauseated by the thought. ‘I have to do it to survive, I have to do it.’
