Chapter 10
Nightstalkers. Alucard's elite vampire unit. Thats all that came to Ruku's mind as he examined the ashes that were once Chateu Sangre. He couldn't believe it. Alucard had launched an assault on them in broad daylight! Why? Demogorgon's orders? No, Alucard was stupid, but not stupid enough to take orders from Demogorgon. Then why? Why am I thinking about the why, Ruku asked himself, When I should be thinking about the fate of the others. Ruku snapped out of it and searched the grounds for any sign of the Dragons. After a hour, Ruku found....nothing. There was nothing to gauge if there was a struggle and if so who won. Alucard had no doubt ordered the Nightstalker Commander to take away the bodies of any who were killed. So there was no way to- snap. Ruku spun with his katana drawn as the Nightstalker ambush party lept. They charged. Ruku wasn't going to lie; he was terrified. The Nightstalker had always been able to do that ever since he was a little boy. They were just plain scary. Averging about 6"4', they were muscerlary built. They also carried Chakrams, barbed spears, and barbaric barbed swords. They were trained in over different fifteen martial arts, trained to ignore pain. This is wasn't what scared Ruku though. It was their apperance. They stood in flexible black armor. Their helmets covered their whole face with a reflective visor. Ruku was never sure why this scared him so, but he thought it was when you injure a person, you see their face twist in pain and you see them bleed. You acknowledge their humaness. But when you hurt a Nightstalker, they make no sound and you can't see their face or their bleeding. They seem immortal. Ruku had to shake off his childhood fear and kill them. He charged and the lead Nightstalker charged also, the other two hanging back. As the Nightstalker leader and Ruku crossed swords, Ruku realized something. I'm taller than this one. That was odd, but something even more odd was- This Nightstalker has breasts. The Nightstalkers were always male. Why would Alucard change the system now? "Ruku!" Ruku looked down to the Nightstalker's synthethic voice. It was masculine. Maybe Alucard always used female Vampires and just had them wear sytheziers. He broke out of their sword lock and struck. The Nightstalker blocked and spun Ruku away. Ruku launched a Fire Stream as he flew away. The Nightstalker summoned an Earth Shield. What!?! Nightstalkers always use Fire! The other two rolled out of the way. Ruku's feet slid back as they touched the ground. When he stopped he charged again. The Nightstalker swore, "Oh for the love of-" She flipped her short katana on the dull side and smashed it into Ruku's face. Ruku fell but managed to kick her face. "OW!!!!" The Nightstalker screamed and clutched her face. Blood slipped down the mask. She acknowledged pain and bleeds!?! What is going on here!?! Ruku landed on his right hand and spun himself so that he tripped her. She fell to the floor. The other two charged, One with metal claws, the other with a giant spear. He picked up the female Nightstalker. "Huh, wait what!?! Ruku Yamato, put me down this insta-" She was thrown into the other two and they all fell. Ruku smiled, "So much for the invincible Nightstalkers." He lifted the female's helmet and-uh oh. oh boy.... It was Kayame. The other two were Zorion and Amy. When Chaetu Sangre was attacked, they took the Nightstalkers armor and waited for Ruku to get back. After giving Ruku the silent treatment for an hour, Kayame explained what happended. Apparently, Kayame was cleaning the kitchen while Zorion locked himself in the simulator. Kayame dropped a dish when she heard Amy's scream. She didn't have her katanas on her, so she grabbed two knives from the cutting block. She ran to Amy's room and stood, paralyzed. The Nightstalker Commander stood over Amy's body. He turned at the loud sound that was Kayame's breathing. She had never known anything that would strike that much fear into her. She didn't know exactly what it was, but she guessed it was the reflective visor he wore. She snapped out of it when she saw Amy. She drew her knives. The Commander charged with Chakrams. Kayame lept over him and kicked him in the back and sent him flying into the hall. She closed the door and moved Amy's bureau in front of the door. She ran over to Amy and shook her, praying she was still alive. She awoke slightly. Kayame smelled burning wood and turned. She quickly picked Amy up as she saw the door burning and the Commander slipping through it like a shadow. Kayame considered her possiblities, which weren't much, and took the best one. She turned and jumped out the window. Amy used what strength she had left and was able to set them down gently. The Commander plunged out of the window, headfirst. He bounced off his hands and spun in the air, Fire surrounding him. Kayame jumped in front of Amy; Kayame could survive, Amy was out of strength. "Zorion," Amy weakly called. Zorion leapt out of the foyer and tackled the Commander, mid-flight. As they tumbled in the ground, Zorion shouted, "There's more inside! Fly, go, fly! I'll hold them off, you two get out of here!" On any other occassion, Kayame would've protested and fought, but Amy was defenseless and though it pained her to, she ran with Amy on her back. "We're running away," Amy said. "No," responded Kayame, "We're making a tactial retreat." They ran. As Kayame turned to check on Zorion, she saw the mansion burning to the ground. Zorion was running towards them. "Are you two all right?" Kayame looked up and said they were. They were then attacked by the Nightstalker ambush party. Amy was tired of running and used what energy she had left and sent them flying with a Hurricane. Zorion had been the one who suggested they dress up as the Nightstalkers and wait for Ruku. "That was until you so rudely attacked us, "Kayame goaded. "Shut up," Ruku responded with the same tone of venom, "You've never fought those before. They're my dad's elite units. I grew up having to hide from them. It was them who caused me to run from Alucard. Raka was the commander at the time." Zorion looked up to Ruku, who was standing. "I've never encountered anything like them before, "Zorion said, "Ruku. I think I need to know what happended to you growing up. Your story. We need to know." Ruku took a deep breath.
