• I stood there in line listening to Feel Good Inc. by The Gorillaz. I let my dark black hair hang over my gray eyes giving me the look of a trouble maker even though I have never had a detention in my entire life. I sigh loudly and tap my food and look around the intertwined jock and cheerleader in front of me.
My name is Simon Knight, I am a seventeen year old senior in high school for a small school out in western Kansas. Our school was chosen for a program to go out and see the world for free. My school chose to go to various places out in Europe and now we are here waiting in line to get scanned by security and to board our plane.
I turn my music up and wait in line until we get our turn to be searched. We board our plane with no issues what so ever and still I have this feeling something bad is going to happen. I shiver and mumble in the airplane's cushioned seat, "Who walked over my grave?" The man who just sat next to me just stares like I'm rabid and that I will try to take a chunk out of him. At least I wasn't wearing my spikes and heavy belt buckle but that would have been to much hassle at security. They had nearly thrown a fit when a girl with several metal fillings walked through the metal detector and had forgotten she had these fillings put in.
I close my eyes and lean back and try to take a nap. Maybe I'm just stressed out since its my first time in one of these aluminum tubes. It's my first time over a major body of water and I don't feel like swimming anytime soon.
I woke up to screaming. It was everywhere and I had no idea what was going on. The confusion, the spinning, I looked out side there was mountains then suddenly ground then sky. We were out of control, nose diving to the ground and there was nothing to stop us. I sighed and thought about what I was about to lose. Nothing came to mind. I see trees out the window then I hear a THOOWSH then there was nothing but darkness.
I awoke to silence. I glanced around and stood up uneasily. I glance around, staring at the bodies strewn about. Some people were awake some were unconscious and others were dead. People were calling out names, others were crying, some were staring into space in shock. I glance out the windows and see a large forest around us. The plane it self was tilted and the tail end going up into the trees. I glance up the tube and then back down to the c**k pit.
I step out of the door of the plane to see several men in a group talking. The principle of the school I went to was there talking too. I turn to see a hug hulking creature come out of the trees. It wore black armor and had a curved bald head with dark black skin and a flat nose. It's ears were pointed and facing back, its mouth was formed into a snarl with its teeth jutting out strangely.
It rushed at the me and picked me up by the throat. I gasped for air as it threw me into the plane and the familiar darkness came to me again. Stars lit across my vision and I could almost hear a faint woman's voice singing.

I woke up in silence. I take a quick glance around and see several people chained with shackles to each other. I am shackled too when I look down at my own arms. Some choice swear words escape my lips quietly. The creature that attacked me was a orc I now realize and no there is about twenty of them standing before me. I don't understand how they are here and but I can tell they aren't people in costumes. There was no way. For now I'm just going to have accept this fact and figure out a way to escape them.

One orc was cooking food over some open fire. I glance at it and i realize what it was and I almost want to puke. The Principle from my school who decided to attend our plain trip was turning on a barbecue stick. The jock from my school is just waking up also. He probably was attacked to since he was a big guy. "Hey whats for supper?" He asks obviously smelling the meat that was cooking. "Mr. Deggerman." I say solemnly. He gags and glances at the fire and pukes near him. An orc walks up to him and slaps him and draws its long crooked black sword. It places the blade easy enough to have to be wielded by a man with two hands to the jocks neck and pushes his head down into his own vomit.
I stand. "Knock it off." I growl at the orc. It lifted me with one hand and brought up its blade. It hacked me once in the gut. I hit the ground hard and lose consciousness again.

I wake up in what I assume some hours later and I see the moon has risen and is full and glowing white. I pull my bleeding body across the ground and try to stand. I hit the ground, the pain to intense to escape. Well I escaped. I think to myself. I close my eyes and will myself to die. I stand up to walk some more. The orcs had obviously left me to die. I stand up to try to walk again. It finally rolls across my mind and I feel broken. Something is destroyed in me.

"I am dying..." Those are my only thoughts that I have while I am walk, holding my abdomen trying to hold in my intestines. Their warm pulsing feels strange, I can't look down at my own body without gagging. I fell to the ground face first and close my eyes shut tight. "Why can't it end? Why do I have to live with this pain? Why?" That is all I can think about as I lay here inhaling the dust and dirt from the ground. My whole body aches and i let out a huge breath.

"Get up!" The voice was feminine and seemed like it came from all around and every at once. It echoes through my head and I now begin to doubt my own sanity. "I said get up, Simon Knight!" The voice comes once more ringing in my ears with the sheer force of it. All I able to manage to mumble is, "Mom?" I cough up some blood and wheeze out a breath.
"No you idiot. You must get up and save your friends. They will not survive in this world without a guide!" She is demanding something from me. I don't quite understand.
Friends? I think to myself. I don't have friends, just people I know.
