Gin chewed thoughtfully on a dried persimmon, staring out the window at the dark sky of Hueco Mundo. It didn't take long for him to get lost in thoughts of yesterday, thoughts of the only one he cared about. What was she doing know? How did she feel? He laid his arm down on the windowsill, over his other. He sighed through his nose as he went further back. Back to the Rukongai, where he met her, on the edge of starvation and offered her food. He smiled a little at the memories. She'd probably show up at some point tomorrow, when they went to Karakura Town for Aizen to work on his plan. If he even got that far with it. The silver haired male straightened from the window, renewing his self made oath. 'Tomorrow. It will happen tomorrow.' He slid his white Arrancar similar robe off, preparing for bed. He didn't really have to, surely didn't feel tired since his anticipation swelled, but he knew he'd need his strength.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Breath escaped his lungs in heavy gasps as he sought refuge around the corner of a building, the Hogyoku resting in his palm. He glanced around the side of the building at Aizen, seemingly killed by his blade. He looked back at the object in his hand There... "It's over... Huh?" He looked back around the side of the building 'Ah crap...' Aizen rose from his crumpled, defeated position, regenerated.
"I win, Gin." The Hogyoku glowed in his hand, arresting his attention. He was aware of someone behind him, though he knew without turning who it was. It was still a bit surprising.
The bite of a steel blade cut through him, leaving a trail of crimson in its wake. "If you were to turn into a snake tomorrow and begin devouring humans, and from the same mouth you started devouring humans, you cried out to me 'I love you,' would I still be able to say 'I love you' the same way I do today?" He reached for the brown haired male in front of him, only to have his arm ripped off and be stabbed. He coughed up a bit of blood as he slumped over Aizen's blade, barely listening to the other.
Rangiku's eyes snapped open, her turning herself over, propping up on her elbow. She panted, free arm around her abdomen "He must've used Hakufuku... Because this feeling...." She looked out over the rooftop, getting herself up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gin laid immobile on the slab of building material he had been thrown through. "Gin!" A shadow fell across him
'I was going to.... Become a Shinigami...' Rangiku came closer, down from where she had been 'So you wouldn't have to cry.... Anymore...' He felt water drop onto his face and opened his eyes a little, forcing his hand up in an attempt to wipe away her tears "Rangiku...." She placed her hand over his, slightly surprised at his movements.
"Gin..." His eyes closed once more and his arm went limp "Gin!"
'Sayonara, Rangiku…' Senses faded, all went to oblivion.
~~~~~~~~~~
Rangiku stayed there, having pulled his dying body into her arms 'No, Gin... Why?' She gently placed him back down, wiping at her eyes with the back of her hand 'If only I could... If someone could....' A shadow fell across her and she looked up to the green and white striped hatted male, almost hopeful.
- Title: The Thoughts of a Snake
- Artist: Vlazusu Druce
- Description: For some reason I'm in love with this pairing. For those reading this description before they read the story (since I'm sure I'm not the only one who reads the story first then the description) this is set on the timeline leading to Gin's death, starting the night before. Direct quotes are colored (though I think Gin's thoughts to Rangiku after Aizen slashes him is the only full quote). And there's a bunch of time skips and a couple narration swaps between Gin and Rangiku.
