The greeter led my dad and I to our table. I took a deep breath of salty ocean air, which I hadn't been able to do for a couple of months, since I went to Hawaii.
My dad, mom, my sister and I were at Virginia Beach for a Scotty McCreery concert. The concert was about an hour ago, out on the beach. We decided to go to dinner at a restaurant near hotel, called Calypso Bar and Grill. It, too, was right on the beach and a small band was playing some Bob Marley songs.
We soon arrived at our little table outside, right near the band. Unfortunately, also near a group of drunk partiers. I made a face at my dad and he promised that as soon as my mom and sister returned from getting their jackets, we would move inside.
Until then, I decided to sip on my Sierra Mist and take a glance at the partiers. Some were wearing bright yellow shirts for some college team. Surveying the crowd, my eyes locked on a boy who looked not much older than me, busing tables.
He wore a black shirt, shorts and tennis shoes and had a cloth to wipe the tables in his back pocket. He had blonde, Justin Bieber-type hair and the face of Josh Hutcherson. Regardless, of what he looked like, I thought he was cute. Before I could look away, his green eyes locked with mine. He grinned slyly at me and went back to busing tables.
Not long after that, my mom and sister came and sat down, only to get up and move inside, were I could actually hear myself think.
The waitress came and took our orders and my family chatted about movies and what we were doing the next day, before we were to come home.
Meanwhile, Busboy tended to tables and every once in a while would catch my eye and grin.
I watched as another waitress introduced him to a table near us, hoping to catch his name. I didn't, though. The lady sitting at the table was obviously drunk. She slapped him on the back and said, "You the man! You the man!"
Don't ask why she said that, I couldn't tell you why drunk people do the things they do. Then again, who can?
He faked a smile and picked up their empty glasses. I caught him rolling his eyes as he walked away, causing me to attempt to hold back my giggle.
I'm not sure if he heard me, but eyes locked again, and this time it was me smiling at him.
Soon after that, I finished my nachos and our waitress came to give us the bill. And who was following her? None other than Busboy, who politely said hello when the waitress introduced him as Trent.
He stacked our empty glasses and plates, but couldn't carry all of it, so he promised he'd be back.
The waitress told us that Trent reminded her of Justin Bieber when they first met. She described the meeting as him flipping his hair like Justin and saying, "Hey, I'm Trent." Her reaction to this was a simple, "Oh, dear Lord."
This made me laugh again and gain a bigger idea of who this flirty stranger was.
Soon he returned just as we were getting up to leave. Clumsy me, tripped over the chair and fell into the table. It could have been a huge catastrophe, had it not been for Trent the Busboy, who grabbed my arm and steadied me.
"I'm sorry!" I stammered.
All he could do was grin at me. He looked into my dark brown eyes and I looked into his hazel eyes. The moment seemed to last a lifetime, but to me, it wasn't enough. My family was leaving and I had to go. I was the first to break the dreamy moment. My shoulder brushed against his as I walked away to join my family.
As we were walking out the door, I spun around to look at him, one more time.
And there he was, grinning at me, yet again. I smiled back and turned around, never to see him again.

Description:
This isn't really fiction, but it's not necessarily non-fiction, like an article or an essay, although it's all pretty much true. I skipped a little about why we went inside. The people were drunk and the music was super loud, is all I'll say.
But yea, the rest of the story kinda saddens me, as stupid as that may sound. I mean, I only met him once, and we barely said anything. But still.... - Date: 06/04/2012
