CT 14: Alice in Wonderland
-
So we've all heard the theories about 'Alice in Wonderland' being based on drugs, and though I can see that, I think there's more to it: (I will be writing this from the view of the 1951 cartoon version - and not the book or any other spin-offs in major ways)
I think it's secretly based on (pen name) Lewis Carrol's (real name Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) infatuation with Alice Liddell since she was 4yrs old. Alice Pleasance Liddell (1852–1934)
Lewis also took partially and fully nude pics of young girls - some scholars suggest it was because at his time (around the 1850s) it was, in a sense, normal to see the innocence of a young girl - not in a sexual manner, but for her purity; And Lewis derived enjoyment from that; Not how we see that sort of thing today.
Mad Hatter - A term used for someone who is a drug dealer.
March Hare - Represents sexuality
Dormouse - Often a nickname for someone small and cute/a small rodent or person who sleeps a lot/readily
Tea/Mushrooms - Drugs
(Alice: Through the Looking Glass) Tart - Woman of loose morals/sleeps around.
Tea; A much older term for marijuana, made popular dating back from the 1930's. Sometimes also a term for PCP. When it is spelled with a capital letter, without needing one, in the middle of the sentence, it is most likely a reference to a**l sex. T or tea parties are underground raves where drugs are involved.
White Rabbit: One of the many mystical figures that leads you into a hole of psychological discovery. Sometimes related to using psychedelic drugs like lsd, but also used in hypnosis and meditation to reach a desired destination (such as a different level of consciousness or location) The main verb attached to the white rabbit is to follow. Cocaine.
Modern White Rabbit slang: A person whose attendance at a social gathering guarantees your own attendance.
In just the scene of the Tea Party, in this context, it would be talking about sex, drugs, and children.
Which makes me think of why the Door Mouse is constantly tired and sleeping - he was in a 'tea' kettle - hot boxing with weed? This would also explain why he's so quick to move, freak out, and is paranoid about the cat showing up: The cat represents the police, and paranoia is a common side effect of smoking weed.
There is also a supposed '***** Pride Day' that is called 'Alice Day' that happens on April 25th (April also being Child Abuse Awareness Month). The first time Alice Day was mentioned was in 2009 by a blogger named Lindsey Ashfo
rd after she infiltrated ***** chat groups where she allegedly saw them discussing the day; Saying it was a day to "Embrace the gift of girl love/life and relationship of Alice and Lewis". Though I have found other articles stating 'Alice Day' going as far back as the 90's.
The date, April 25th, was supposedly chosen because that's the day in 1856 that the author of 'Alice in Wonderland', Lewis Carroll, met his young muse Alice Liddell at 4yrs old and became infatuated with her; Though no proof of any inappropriate relationship between them ever surfaced; Lewis saying he is 'Fond of children (except boys)'.
**will finish later + organize it better - spent 2 and 1/2 hours researching terms and writing this. Sleep.
