"There's six of you this time," he seemed a little surprised. "Has it really come down to this?"
"Hey," said Ruby, "who are you?"
"It doesn't matter," He replied.
"Yes it does."
"No it doesn't."
Then Ruby brandished her frying pan. "Where are your MANNERS!?! You will introduce yourself!" This isn't going to be pretty if he doesn't introduce himself, because Aqua was at the ready with her pan too. "I'll introduce us first. I'm Ruby, this is Eric, Terra, Chris, Alexander, and Aqua. Now, you are?"
He sighed the sigh everyone else did when they knew they couldn't win this battle, and said, "You may call me Kane. I'm here to act as your guide in this world."
"Kane," Eric started, "is your name spelled C-a-i-n, C-a-n-e, or K-a-n-e?"
We all shook our heads.
"Now is not the time or the place for that," Kane replied.
"I agree," said Terra. "What I'd like to know is why you said there where six this time, and why you said 'this world'"
Terra was down to the point as usual, but then again who could blame her?
Then Aqua started, "Yeah, that's a good point. Start talking."
"I want some answers too," said Chris, "so start talking, because I don't even know you and you're already making me sick!"
"I was just getting to that," Kane said a little annoyed. "So, I'm going to explain everything." We all sat down in front of him. "Okay, it's been my family's tradition to guide the hero throught this world. Yeah, you're not on Earth anymore." We sat in shock. "Let me finish," he raised a finger and we continued to sit quietly. "This is a parallel world to Earth known as Gaia. It's a world where people can never completely die. Instead, they are reincarnated as another being, and they go without there previous memories. However, there are some instances where they come back as evil beings. Seven hundred years ago, there was a war between the people of Gaia and the Kaijin."
"Kaijin," I asked a little confused. "That's the japanese word for monster."
"Exactly, the evil beings are called Kaijin, because that is how they act and look," Kane continued. "During that war, the Kaijin teamed together to destroy the four citys of Gaia. The people were outnumbered, so they did the only thing they could do, send for help. They pulled six people from Earth, and they slew every last one of the Kaijin. Very few of the Kaijin returned as Kaijin after that. But, one of the warriors from Earth grew very concerned for Gaia, and longed to stay as its eternal protector. Another also wished to stay to keep that one in check, because power such as that has always corrupted people. But such a thing was just a mere wish in the mind. However, when they were going back home, Gaia granted those wishes by splitting those two into two entities. Each was split into a side of light and darkness. Ever since then, the dark side of one warrior has been upsetting the balance in this world, while its light side was sent back to Earth. The same thing happened to the other one as well, except that the light side was on this side."
We all just sat there looking at him as if he were a mad man. Then Aqua got up a little nervously and said, "...Who wants to take a few steps from the unstable story teller?"
No need to argue. We all took a few steps back looking at him as if he were crazy.
"How did I know this would happen," Kane muttered. "I guess there's only one way to convince you, and to get you to listen to the rest of my story." He pointed behind us. I turned first to see a sixteen foot long lizard propped up on its hind legs ready to attack.
