Yo-Yo Trick: The Zipper (Give opinions please!) |

Before I start in on this, I have a little personal yo-yo news. I'm getting a YoYoJam Speeder sometime this week. It's my first professional grade yo-yo, so let's see how it works! ^.^ Also, my Yomega Crossfire recently broke, but for anyone who seems interested, the Lancer appears to be roughly the same thing (I'm assuming so because the Crossfire seems to be discontinued).
Anyways, the Zipper is a nice looking trick and it's really just transfering between an under mount and a front mount; you can keep this one going for as long as you like/can, so I'll only go through one repetition. This trick is pretty much one continuious movement, so this one was difficult to break into definitive "steps".
Yo-Yos I Used: Yomega HWW (Mod.), Yomega Raider, Yomega Crossfire, Yomega Xodus II Most things work here, but butterfly shapes make it easier (meaning the Yomega Raider isn't as good choice for this)
How to perform The Zipper: 1) Throw an Under Mount (like you're going to bind it)
OK...I spent about 10 mins trying to figure out how to word the next few steps. This is a trick you can't practice in slow motion, so bear with me and my long steps! I'll try my best, but just you wait until I get pictures and (hopefully) videos up here.
2) Move your right hand up and your left hand down but keep the string diagonal, not vertical. As you are doing this, pull the string tight to bounce the yo-yo over your right pointer finger 3) As you're following through with step 2, hold out your right middle finger and allow the yo-yo to flip over that and catch the yo yo on the string again. 4) As you're doing step 3, you should be moving your left hand up and away from you in a circular motion to make the yo-yo flip again into a Front Mount being held by your right middle finger instead of your right pointer finger 5) Pull on the string again to flip the yo-yo down and hold out your right pointer finger to flip it back up and into an Under Mount 6) Repeat steps 2-5 OR use the Under Mount to perform a bind and catch the yo-yo
It's hard to explain for me because I just do this without really thinking, but you'll be able to be like that for anything in the world with enough practice.
Some little devices I catch myself using is counting out this trick like "1, 1 2, 1, 1 2, 1..." (the first 1 being the starting mount and the 1 2 being flipping it) and I'll occasionally catch myself taking soe of the string into my left hand to shorten the overall length.
Just remember to try try try, since this is considered an advanced trick.
