Adara's, thoughts, stories and rambles.
Who is actually reading these?
Intro
Sitting in a rocking chair, a crocheted wrap loosely hugging her old frailed shoulders, a woman with cloudy deep purple eyes ‘looked’ out over the land. Her hands were worn, arthritic, contorted, wrinkly and aged as they lightly shook holding onto the wrap at her lap. “Meme!” Her head raised a little, such a kind look was etched into her wrinkles as he pleasant mouth turned up at the sound of her great grand niece’s voice calling out for her. “Lillian…” Her voice shook more then her hands but was full of love. She never had kids but her sister did, and she help take care of them and down the line. She didn’t know why she lived longer then her sister, she didn’t know why she didn’t get in that car that dreadful night that claimed her beloved little sister. She vowed to take care of the kids all three of them like Danica did. Getting up and grabbing her gnarled cane she slowly walked down the stairs and onto the farm land. Her grand and great grandbabies, as she called them, loved playing hide and go seek with her cause she couldn’t peak and they could quickly hide somewhere else and she couldn’t catch them, only laugh happily.

Today was no different from that, playing with the kids for hours till she finally slumped to the warmed grass too exhausted to do anything but laugh and open her arms to hug her sweet babies. Holding Lillian she hummed softly and rocked back and forth lightly while the little girl sang random songs to the hums. Life was good, she lived with her Grandnephew and his wife who loved her deeply. She ‘watched’ the kids while they either worked on the farm or were at work. She would feed the chickens, that was her chore as she wanted to do something to help and she loved chickens. They were soft to her. That and taking the boys fishing, that was a big chore the boys loved. They would load her up in their cart and pretend to be horses and carted her out to the pond where they enjoyed a relaxing day swimming while she ‘watched’ over them.

“Meme?” “Yes my darling Lillian?” “How old are you?” She laughed heartily, her neck lightly popping as her head went back a bit. “Oh my dearest Lillian I have lost count after 450.” “Really meme?!” “no, I am 92.” “Oh…well Meme?” “Yes?” “Why is your hair still black.” Her smile faded “It is?” “Yes, it is as black as oil.” “Hm.” She never answered Lillian only hugged her a little closer “I dye it” She lied “Really? But you can’t see.” “My dear little one, I can feel” “Oh!” the smile returned to the old woman’s face as the child got up and took her inside for dinner when they got called in. At the dinner table “Lillian? You have another question?” The old woman smiled “Meme?” with a snicker “Yes Lillian?” “Do you have dentures?” “LILLIAN!” her mother scorned as the old woman nearly choke from laughter “What if I did? Would you want me to pull them out “YEAH!” all four kids cried out “Well” with a chuckle as she knew the parents were embarrassed even though their daddy did the same thing “They are all mine, no fake teeth here.” “Oh….” They sounded disappointed. With a shake of the head she finished eating with a smile.

Life went on like this odd questions the kids would ask from the quirks that the old woman would show time and time again. Yet one day many of them were answered. The kids were outside on the grass playing while the old woman crocheted a random thing, head down and tilted as if she was watching her hands work. However, at one point she raised her head, her eyes narrowing “KIDS GET UP HERE NOW!” they stopped and looked seeing Meme standing and was stern. They never saw that so they ran to her and held onto her legs. “Where’s your daddy and mommy…” Well the parents heard that and came quickly as in all his life Gunner never heard his grandmammy, as he called her, raise his voice and was worried. “I’m here grandmammy” “Get your kids inside. Now.” she barked at him who obeyed and shuffled them in.

“’Ello Luv….” A thick English accent called out to her. “Simion is that you?” “No luv that was my great great great grandfather. Wow you look so old…” She smiled “Thank you, I aged…well….I just aged…So what is it I call you?” “Forgive my rude manners I am William it’s a pleasure to meet the woman who killed off my predecessors.” “Is it?” “Yep, I don’t normally hurt the elderly as its not a fair fight, but I can make an exception for you. Feel honored.” “I only feel the gas building up for a good burp…is that the honor you were talking about?” “The stories always did put you as rude.” “I aim to please.” She walked down with her gnarled cane in hand. Gunner was watching with the shotgun but knew not to cross her. He was worried for his grandmammy but what could he do?

Standing several feet from him she just smiled “You think you can take me on grandma?” “That’s great grandma to you young man.” With a smile she gripped her cane, on hand on the handle the other on the shaft and gave it a sharp twist then a yank. Gunner nearly shat himself as out came a blade like he’s never seen before. Well in the history books but after a certain movie, elvish swords were then popular but only for show. How did his grandmammy have one? Why did she have one. “Ha! You still have it…” The male untied two leather bindings from both hips only two produce two long metal whips with small blades at the end. “You really wanna do this mama?” She smiled as she slid into her stance. “What is Meme doing? She’s old! He’ll hurt her!” Lillian wailed in her brother’s arms who looked just as sick with worry. “I dunno really who that is kids….” Gunner admitted as he realized there were some serious questions that he had now for his grandmammy.

The fight started and the old woman was getting her a** handed back to her on a platinum platter with diamonds encrusting it beautifully. “Hm, I underestimated you boy, but coming from that bloodline…well its not that much of a reach.” Raising a hand pointing a couple fingers to the sky she chanted out unrecognizable words over and over till lightning rained down striking her several times “MEME!” the girl tried to go out there but was held back. When the light show ended, the advisory let his arm lower and had an overwhelming urge to run. There before him stood a young, tall, breathtaking elf with a smirk on her lips and two swords in her hands. “Awww not feeling so confident?” her voice didn’t shake her hands were steady and her eyes were clear and bright. “Let’s play…”

Leaping forward she had speed, agility, and stamina on the stronger fighter, however if he landed several blows on her, he would win out. She, however, wasn’t letting that happen. She sprang forward and effortlessly moved to the side while he snapped his whips mercilessly at her. “Tsk” he finally was getting out of shock and the battle continued. She would get great attacks on him only to be knocked back by his bladed whips until finally he had her on her knees and the whip tightly around her neck. “Time to die…” He smirked “I don’t think so.” There were five loud booms as the man arch forward and took in a sharp breath of air. Falling to his knees he looked at her smirking then fell over showing it was only arrows in his back and a man standing at a tree line a great distance away. Waving and getting up they ran to each other and embraced as best friends would. “Lord Duo your looking spry as ever.” “Lady Adara you decided to come out of retirement?” “I never was in retirement you old man.” “I wasn’t the one with wrinkles and blind.” “Ohhh tu shay. Where’s the others?” He smiled “Waiting so patiently for the group to be formed back up. Why did you leave us?” “That one, she sacrificed herself for me, I did not want her bloodline to die on my behalf so I raised them all.”

She put her hand on his shoulder “Wait for me.” Turning she walked off to the house, as she did wind picked up the dirt about her making it impossible for her to be seen for a moment and when it died down there she was at the door, like a vision. She had a body that women would die to look like and men would kill to be with. There was a thick band of cloth low on her hips just above her slit and split with a simple but elegantly detailed cloth hanging to below her knees. Knee high boots of the same elegance and quality, and a metal and cloth top that covered the essentials. Her hair was back in an intricate knotted design and a metal crown of vines crawled across her forehead with one simple but large amethyst drop hanging between her eyes, which were of the same color and clarity. “Gunner…Take care of your beautiful family. I have watched over your blood line for centuries now, you will survive.” She smiled and hugged him “Your chest hurts grandmammy” she laughed “that’s my Gunner.” She said her goodbyes but slid a beautiful bracelet from a back pouch that matched her head ware. “Lillian, this life will be hard for you my dear little one, but always know Meme is watching over you, even when you don’t know it or don’t think it. Keep this near and never loose it.” She gave a more masculine looking one to the boys then hugged them all one last time. Before anyone could object she leaped from the house and ran off with the male, leaving her temporary life behind for her real life and real adventures. “Is this is?” “Yes, you ready to go home.” Looking over her shoulder, using her elvish eyes she saw a family in mourning and it broke her hear but this wasn’t her home, this wasn’t were she belonged. “Yeah…Let’s go home…I’ve missed you guys far to much to wait anymore.” With that the elvish woman and ranger walked through a portal back into the realm that they called home………
