Chapter 5
Shiro opened the door to Aleana's house and sighed. "I miss her already and its only been two days." The ceiling fan was still going 'round and 'round, making a soft breeze go throughout the room. The soft wind blew a piece of paper on the floor. Shiro picked it up and read the note. He set the letter back on the table, and saw something gleam in the other room. He headed to the room and saw what made that glimmer. "Urghn...Aleana you moron!" The house began to shake and the house was vibrating under his feet. Shiro stood there for a moment, and then he ran out to the street. People ran past him screaming as loud as they possibly can. The houses ahead of him were either on fire or destroyed. A yellow scaly, red bug-eyed beast was blowing flames everywhere. Beside the yellow dragon was a blue dragon with green eyes. He too, was putting houses and even people into flames. Shiro spread his legs apart than began to chant a spell. A spell to cast lightning from the sky to stop the dragons do anymore damage. In fact, it did. Their screams were so high pitched it could make a sturdy building made out of all the toughest material you could find, fall to pieces. The beasts stomped around unable to see where they were going. The boy said the chant once more and the procedure repeated. Doing so, the screams from the dragons were ten times worst than before. It made your blood run cold. Shiro couldn't stand it anymore; he had to cover his ears. That was a terrible mistake. The blue dragon collapsed on Aleana’s house making Shiro ram into the house across the street. He heard screams from the citizens running in the forests, people dying, the monsters screams, and the scream inside him. He watched the yellow dragons' sharp eyes go to him. As the beast headed toward the boy, he said his last words and his exact words were these: "I'm sorry, Aleana...that I couldn’t protect the city. I hope you find the Guardians...I know you will because I have faith in you...Aleana I lo-" The dragons teeth fell upon him. Blood splattered everywhere, leaving only a puddle of red liquid as Shiro's remains. The dragon smirked as he licked his lips. His teeth were stained red and clothing was in between them.
"You girls can stay in here," Amory said opening a door that led to a room. The teenage girls took a step into the room. It had a wooden flooring, a small wooden table in the back next to the window. To the left was a bed and to the right was another. Both had red covering made out of silk. At the foot of the bed, placed next to the wall was a wooden dresser. At the bottom of the maroon walls were designs of dragons. Amory closed the door to leave the girls to take care of their own business. Aleana sat at the end of the bed. "Wow," she said. "look at this room." "Yeah. Hey, I'm going to check the rest of the house out. Want to come?" Serenity asked. "Nah, I will later. Right now I got to get back to the hotel and get my things." Kaitlyn looked up from her desk to see Aleana walking through the door. She smiled, straightened her papers, pushed her glasses up to her eyes and said, "Aleana, I see that you're going to stay at Amory's house." "Yeah, I am. How did you know?" "I just got off the phone with him." "Ah, I see. Well, I only came here to grab my things." Aleana turned the corner into her hotel room. The girl opened the front door and saw Skitz and Amory having a quiet conversation in the kitchen. "What if they find out? Skitz questioned, crossing his arms. "They won't, and if they do...we'll just tell them and erase their memory of ever knowing." Amory replied. "They're living with you! They're bound to find out!" "Like I said, we'll erase their memory." Skitz sighed. "But what if you--" "I'm back!" Aleana announced moving towards the boys. "Uh, welcome back Aleana." Amory said as he took her things. "I'll carry your bag for you." He headed up the stairs into the girls' room. "Where's Sere?" the girl asked. "Bathroom." Aleana nodded as the two stepped into the room. Amory set the bag on the right bed, then turned to face Aleana. "Well, there you go." "Thanks." Amory leaned back on his heels and started whistling. What else was there to do in this house? Sleep and eat. "Uh.... What do you want to do?" the boy asked. "Actually, I was thinking of getting some sleep." Aleana flopped down on the bed with her hands behind her head, and slowly closed her eyes. Amory silently sneaked out of the room while closing the door behind him. She stood in front of her house that was in ruins. Shiro was next to her, gazing at the crumbled building. The wind blew through Aleana's hair as a small tear ran down her cheek. Once the city was alive and filled with joy; now most of the buildings were dust, and the people that once lived inside the structures were now gone. "Aleana..." Shiro began. The girl turned her gaze to him. "Aleana, I'm sorry." "For what?" Shiro kept on talking, "You'll find the Guardians. I know you will. I have faith in you. Aleana-" "Shiro, I will find the Guardians! Just you wait and see." Aleana said, trying to convince her friend. "...I lo-" Everything around Aleana went black. She was blind. Nothing but black filled her eyes. Then there was a spotlight on a body that was lying on the ground near her. The body had its back facing the girl. Aleana took cautious steps towards the corpse. She noticed red liquid surrounding the dead body as she knelt down beside it. She extended her arm so she could flip the body over to see its face. She covered her mouth and whispered, "Oh..My God.” The face was torn, but she could make out whom this person was. Teeth marks were on the torso and blood slowly trickled out of them.
"NO! SHIRO!" Aleana sat up quickly as tears fell from her eyes. She realized it was in the middle of the night, but she couldn't help but scream. Serenity was over on the other side of the room in her bed. She rolled over and grumbled, "What is it?" Aleana took a deep breath and then the door flew open. Amory came in, followed by Skitz. Amory saw the girl that was in tears and sat down next to her. "What happened? I heard a scream?" Hearing the boys calm voice, Aleana wanted to cry more. She wrapped her arms around him, and then suddenly, she started to cry harder. At first Amory didn't know what to do. Then he put his arms around the girl and whispered in her ear, "Everything will be alright. I promise." They sat there, in each other’s arms, for a few moments until Skitz thought it would be time to go. As for Serenity however, she was already past out. Amory had his eyes closed while he was soothing Aleana. "It's okay Aleana, it's okay." He then noticed that the girl cried herself to sleep. The boy fell back on the bed still holding her in his arms, then he fell peacefully asleep. Aleana awoke to find Amory still holding her in his arms. Better not wake him, she thought. She gazed at him for a while. He made a loud snore that took her by surprise. She gave out a chuckle and looked around the room. Amory rolled over pulling the girl on top of him. "Hey!" Aleana said as she looked down at him. "Wake up, you pervert." Amory opened his eyes and stared at her. "Uh...What are you doing?" he questioned. "What am I doing? You're the one who put me on top of you! What are you doing?" "Hey, time to wake up! Breakfast...is...ready." Skitz slowly walked into the bedroom. He looked at the two while they stared back at him. "It's not what it looks like," Amory said while removing his hands from Aleana's waist to his sides. "Uh-huh." Skitz crossed his arms and grinned. The girl got up, her face as red as a rose. "This is embarrassing," she said as she marched out of the room. The boys looked at each other until Amory walked out of the room saying, "It wasn't what it looked like." "Sure. Whatever." Skitz mocked. Serenity sat at the table eating scrambled eggs with orange juice in a cup. "So, how did you sleep last night?" she asked Aleana. "I had a nightmare." she replied. She took a cup that was on the counter and poured orange-juice, that she got from the refrigerator, into it. "Yeah, you screamed. Loud! It woke up everyone." The boys stormed in the kitchen. Aleana and Amory turned away trying not to make eye contact. She went into the room she slept in, changed into clean clothes, went back downstairs, and announced that she was going for a walk. She walked passed the tall, gorgeous buildings and into the forest. Past the trees there was a small river. Aleana took off her shoes and put her feet in the water. "So, you're Amory's girl?" A male asked. Aleana blocked the sun out of her eyes with her hand so she could see the figure behind her. He had red hair and stinging yellow eyes. The man wore a white T-shirt with a brown leather jacket, blue jeans that had a hole by the left knee, and black and white tennis shoes. "Aren't you Amory's girl?" he asked again. "No, of course not. We just met." The man nodded. "Of course. Do you know where he is right now?" Aleana took her feet out of the water and put her shoes back on. "Yeah, I do." She started walking back to the city with the man close behind
