Chapter 7
"Here we are, " Amory said, landing on the soft dirt of the cave. His wings disappeared, and he sat Aleana on the bed. "Wow, your cave has a bed, couch, table, and a fireplace, " she announced. "Yeah, right now I'm working on the stove." The girl nodded. She looked around the place some more. It's just a plain old cave. With furniture. The fireplace was across from the bed, and the couch was next to it. When you look out of the mouth of the cave the river stopped making the dirt into slimy mud. The mountains around this one were so beautiful. The clouds were around the pointy tops, and the blue sky made the view even more gorgeous. "I know this is a little off subject, " Aleana began. " but does Skitz know you're a Guardian?" "Yes, he does." Amory answered. "He knew the first day I met him too." "How'd you meet him?" Amory chuckled, "Well, I was about either eleven or twelve, and I was walking through the woods when I heard a scream. I followed the scream, and it soon led me to a river. Skitz was in it. Since I was a Guardian I had to save him. So I did. His clothes were all wet, and so were mine. After I got him out of the river, he looked up and said, 'Why did you do that?'" Aleana started to giggle. "He didn't want you to save him," she said. "Yeah. The reason why he didn't want me to save him was because he wanted to learn how to swim. He was an only child and his parents wouldn't look after him. He wanted to become a Guardian so he could look after himself and look after other people, and he thought that if he learned how to swim he would automatically become a Guardian. "He then looked up at me and saw me laughing, rolling all over the ground. He was confused then soon realized that I was what he always wanted to be. So, I shared my secret with him. He asked me all these questions about it. I didn't know much about being a Guardian and I told him the only information I knew." "Did he tell anyone?" "Not a soul." Aleana coughed. "Well, that's good." "Yes, and I wish you found out that I was a Guardian a different way than how you did. Still, I'm glad you found out. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to keep my secret any longer." "Well, with two women living in your house, y'know, we'll find out sooner or later," the girl smiled. A cricket hopped on the plain maroon couch, and started to play it's music. However, soon afterward the cricket turned into a girl. Her legs were crossed and her arms were folded. She had a very disgusted look on her face. "Traitor," she said. She wore a light green tang top that made her lime green eyes pop out. She was wearing black capris and black sandals. Her brown hair went passed her shoulders, and was tucked behind her ears. The girl was a bit shorter than Amory, and in her voice she had a hint of a British accent. "You know your not suppose to tell anyone!" "This is my little sister, Callan, or Emerald Guardian, " Amory introduced. "Why'd you tell her!? Now she's probably going to tell everyone our secret and it's all your fault!" Callan roared. "Actually, it was Garron's fault. Not mine." Callan stood up and punched her brother in the shoulder. "So? Still your fault for having her and the other live with you!" Aleana gave a questioning look at Amory. "How does everyone know so much about you and what happens to you?" "Well, Guardians have to look after each other and other people around the world. So I guess you can say that we know things," Amory said. "Stop talking to her and talk to meeee!" Callan poked him in the chest. "Answer my question!" she demanded. "I told you, I didn't tell her." "Your giving her more information about us! She doesn't need to know everything!" "She has questions and I answer them." Callan shot Aleana a glare then glared back at her brother. "You don't know if you can trust her!" "I can trust her. I know I can." The young girl smirked. "Okay." She faced Aleana with her hands on her hips. "If you tell anyone, I'll kill you, " she threatened. "Nice to see you again, bro." She then turned into a robin and flew out of the cave. "She scares me, "Aleana said. "Callan is a sweetie-pie, though. She's only looking out for me. " Amory sat on the couch and crossed his arms. The girl smiled. Her smile was so heart-warming it made you want to hug her as if she were a stuffed toy, and never let her go. "That's sweet." "It is, " Amory replied, nodding. Aleana smiled once more before yawning. It seemed like she was always tired. When she was a kid all she did was sleep. Now, she was trying to get out of the habit, but it isn't really working for her. "Tired?" She nodded. "You can take a nap." Amory told her. "Okay." Aleana took the sheet and snuggled inside the blankets. It took her only a few seconds to fall asleep. Wow, she falls asleep fast, Amory thought. She looks so peaceful. It wouldn't hurt to... He got up and took his time to lean forward and kiss Aleana on her forehead.
When Aleana woke up it was late evening. The sun turned the sky orange and pink, and a bright yellow out-line among the clouds. She rubbed her eyes, and looked around the cave. Amory was no where to be seen. She heard splashing noises from the river. She silently walked to the entrance of the cave, and saw Amory swimming in the river in his boxers! The girls' face turned extremely pink. What's the matter with you, she asked herself. You saw him with nothing on before. How come this is different? "A-Amory, " Aleana began. "What are you doing?" Even though it was kind of obvious of what he was doing. The boy quickly turned around. "You're awake," he said as red crawled over his face. "Yeah, I am." Was Aleana the only calm one throughout this situation? Yes. Amory quickly swam to the mouth of the cave. He put back on his white T-shirt, tan shorts, and sneakers. He looked up at his friend and asked, "Do you want to go back to my house?" Aleana toyed with her necklace. "Sure." The boy knelt down as he clenched behind her knees, then flew off.
"Ooooh! Brother, what were you doing alone with Aleana?" Garron was back in the house, sitting on the couch with his legs crossed. "We-we weren't doing anything!" Aleana cried, blushing once again. "Uh, excuse me." She rushed up the stairs without saying another word. Garron watched Aleana then grinned at Amory. "What were you doing?" Amory sighed. He was getting annoyed. "Nothing, okay! She just...just saw me swimming in my boxers." "Are you sure nothing happened?" He asked again. "Yes! We didn't do anything!" Amory stormed into the kitchen, but it only got worse. Skitz was there eating a sandwich. "So, did you two have fun alone?" "For the love of God! Does everyone know on this stupid planet that I was alone with Aleana?" Amory flung his hands in the air, his voice frustrated. The boy laughed, and then started to cough. He pounded on his chest. "Never laugh with your mouth full." Amory made a no-duh look. "Anyway, back to the point. You are going to ask her, right?" "Ask who what?" Amory hesitated. He knew, but he wasn't going to admit it to himself. He liked her, but only as a friend, remember? There's no way he could possibly love her. She was a human. One of the billions of people he had to protect. He would never have strong feelings for a human. It would be wrong. Skitz finished his food. "Amory, buddy ol' pal. You know what I mean. If you don't ask her, your brother is going to have to erase both of the girls' memories. You know that. It's a surprise to me that he didn't erase mine." "I told him not to, " Amory whispered. "See! It's as simple as that. If you don't do what everyone is rooting for you to do, then there is no point on them keeping their memories. What if they get really mad at you? What do you think they'll do? Would they tell everyone? It would be on the news, and they all will be after you and the others. Some may even want to kill you. And if they do, who do you have to blame?" The boy slammed his fist on the counter. He then walked out of the kitchen to the living room saying to Skitz, "Fine! Let him erase their past!" Garron turned in the chair. He stared straight at his brother who had a stern look planted along his face. "You heard me, " Amory said, his voice rising. "B-but-" "Just do it! I want those to girls' memories erased. I don't want them to remember us anymore. I don't want to even know them!" He took a breath. "I want them to forget as soon as possible. It's bad enough that they're living in my house." The boy looked at the phone. "I'm going to call Kaitlyn and tell her what's going to be done."
