Chapter 10
“Do you think Kaitlyn would be up at this hour?” Garron questioned picking Aleana up bridal style. Skitz picked up the girls bag. “Why what time is it?” Garron looked at the clock. “It’s past one-o-clock in the morning. If I was an old woman I would be fast asleep by now. Oh well. Let’s just take her to the hotel. Sere, if Amory comes back tell him we took Aleana to Kaitlyn.” The girl nodded. She looked at the piece of paper in her hand and began reading it once more.
I, Serenity, swear on my name that if I tell a single soul about the Guardians I shall perish an eternity of suffering. I write in my signature in my blood promising for the rest of my life. This great burden has to be sealed and trapped inside of me forever. For what happened to Aleana won’t happen to me. My memories are sacred and would want to keep them. If I do tell my memory shall be erased as well. I Promise in my blood.
Serenity looked up at Garron. “How am I supposed to sign in my blood? Is there a knife I should use?” Garron sighed. “Use a knife in the kitchen. We really have to leave before this girl awakes. Ciao, Sere!”
Aleana blinked her eyes as she yawned. She had a terrible headache that didn’t seem to go away. She sat up and looked around the room. The ceiling was a pink color and the walls seemed to be a deep color of peach. The sheets on the bed were a light pink with red squiggly lines. Ahead of the bed was a dresser and on top of the dresser was a small T.V. The girl rested a hand on her head. “Where am I? I remember leaving home to search for the Guardians. I don’t remember going in this room,” she said to herself. She walked out of the room and stood in the center of the hallway. She looked at all the doors and noticed that all of them had numbers on them. “I’m in a hotel? When did that happen?” Aleana followed the mahogany carpet to the front desk. “Excuse me, ma’am. Where am I?” The woman scanned Aleana's face. "Right now you're in the Peaches Hotel. I’m the woman who runs this place. My name is Kaitlyn. Nice to meet you, would love to talk more, but I’m busy right now.” Kaitlyn shuffled papers and started signing them. She wore a dark blue dress that went down to her ankles. The sleeves went to her wrist. Her glasses were at the tip of her nose and her gray hair was up in a tight bun. A strand of hair escaped the bun and went behind her ear. The young girl perked up. That was very rude, but at least the woman was trying to polite. I hope I get to talk to her again. She seemed stressed. Oh well. She needs a vacation. That’s what I say. Aleana headed for the glass doors that lead to the outside, but was stopped when Kaitlyn questioned her, “Does he know the way you feel?” The girl raised an eyebrow. “What is that suppose to mean? Kaitlyn’s eyes became shallow. “I guess he did do it. Oh well. It was his decision. He’ll regret it later.” She looked up finding the girl staring at her. “Oh don’t mind me. I have a bad habit of talking to myself. Please do carry on.” Aleana nodded and jogged out of the building. The large, beautiful buildings caught her eye. Everything did, but it all seemed too familiar. She looked back and forth, memorizing everything she saw. The girl walked past a small brick building with a small stage inside. She was curious of what this structure could be, so she walked inside and looked around. She went up to the counter and asked the bartender what this building was supposed to be. “It’s a place for kids to hang out. Adults come here too sometimes,” The man said. Aleana nodded as she turned to look at the people sitting and having little side chats while the musician on stage strummed his guitar. He glanced at her and gave her a slight smile. “Thank you,” he said into the microphone once he finished his song. A few people applauded and cheered. He jumped off the stage, guitar in hand, and walked towards the young woman. He seemed very interested in her. The man had sandy blonde hair and had deep blue eyes as the ocean. He was very tall as far as Aleana could tell. He wore a sky blue T-shirt that a dragon made out of dark blue on his chest. The dark pants went above his white shoes. He was very handsome. Very handsome. “Hello,” Aleana said with a grin on her face. “You enjoy my performance?” “Yes. It was good.” “Some people here don’t think so. I practice everyday, but I still don’t get their comments. They only clap because they’re polite.” Aleana raised an eyebrow. “So you’re going to keep on playing once they approve of you? The boy nodded. “I’ve never seen you around here before? Are you traveling? Oh, my name is Aaron, and your name is…?” Aaron held out his hand waiting for the girl to grasp it. “My name is Aleana, nice to meet you, Aaron,” she said, shaking his hand. “I’m from Harstermic, and I guess you can say I’m traveling. I’m looking for the Guardians because-“ “Wait, you said you’re from Harstermic. Dragons destroyed that town a few days ago. A few of the civilians came here. Where are you staying? I could get you a place to stay if you’d like. You can stay with me and my family.” Aleana gasped. She didn’t know this. She doesn’t remember. Aaron tilted his head. “You didn’t know? How could you not know? Didn’t you live there?” “Yeah, I do…eh, did. But when I woke up today I was in a hotel. I didn’t know how I got there. I was just there,” she explained as she grasped her head. “Oh, I’m confused.” The boy leaned his guitar up against the counter and placed his hands on her shoulders. “You okay? You don’t look so good. It looks like you’re sick.” “I’m not si…ck. I feel fine. Just a little diz-zy. But…I’ll be fine. Honest. Don’t worry a-about it.” Then Aleana passed out on the cold cement floor.
