Chapter 11 She ran. She ran past the tall, huge trees, following the narrow path below her feet. The path led to a small field, but no matter how she tried, no matter how fast she ran, no matter what, she couldn’t get there. The girl ran into a sturdy man with red shaggy hair. He grasped hold of her arms and said as if in a whisper, “You can’t do this brother!” “Yes, I can! I order you to do it!” Aleana fought her way out of the mans grip and looked at the man behind her. He had different shades of hair color. Blonde and brown. His facial expression could be seen a mile away. He was furious. Wait, no he wasn’t. He was depressed, unsure. “You know you’ll regret it! Brother, change your mind! You know if this is done you’ll be filled with grief! Do you want that to happen?” “You can’t change my mind! What if they tell?” The man with the combination of hair color questioned. “We can’t let that happen!” “You love her, brother. Don’t hide it. It’ll hurt. Tell her before it’s too late. She loves you too! Can’t you see it? If you make me do this it would hurt both of you. Especially you.” Another man appeared by the red haired one. He had another eerie color of hair. His was purple, and he was tall. “You need to find a mate! Time is running out! Make a woman love you if you have to!” “No! I don’t want to do that! Besides, I don’t want to make a human fall in love with me. It’s wrong. Plus, it makes us look powerless. If there’s a female -------- I want her to love me. Not forcing of course.” Aleana was confused. She looked back and forth watching the three men talk and discuss what ever they were discussing about. “What are you…Talking about?” Once she said that everything began to get smaller and fade away as the men argued.
“Aleana! Aleana! Wake up!” Aaron cried. He raised the girls’ head and poured water in her mouth. “Aleana, are you alright?” The girl blinked, and then groaned. “Yeah…I’m fine. The headache is back again…. It hurts….” She rested a hand on her head. “I had the weirdest dream, Roy.” “What was it about if you don’t mind me asking.,” the young boy looked over his shoulder and stared at the people staring back at him. “Could someone get this girl medicine? She has a terrible headache.” “These three men were talking about…Well, I don’t really know. It was all confusing. The first two men were talking about something and how it would affect each other. Then this other man appeared telling one man that he has to find a mate before time is up…. It’s really odd.” An old woman came walking over with a cane in her hand. Her back was hunched. She handed Roy two white, circular pills. “Take care of her,” she said in a shaky voice. Roy smiled. “Thanks.” He gave Aleana the glass of water and the two pills and watched her has she took them. “What did they look like?” “I dunno. I couldn’t really see their faces. One man had red hair, the other brown and blonde, and the last one had faded purple for a hair color. Weird…” The boy nodded. “Yes, it is. Hey, if you don’t have a place to stay you can stay with my family and me. I’m sure they’ll be really excited that you’ll be able to stay.” Aleana thought about this for a moment. She didn’t have any place to stay. What about that hotel? Oh, and what about Shiro? Shiro, her life long friend. She doesn’t even know if he’s still alive. “I got to go back to what’s left of Harstermic. I need to know if my friend is still alive and well,” she said. “If he’s alive he would’ve come here. What does he look like? I might know him.” “Well, he has dark hair, tall, and he usually wears dark clothes. His eyes…they’re amazing blue.” Roy’s expression changed. His voice was dull when he spoke. “No. I’m sorry, but I didn’t meet anyone who looked like that.” He watched the girl tear up. “Aleana…. I’m so sorry.” “If you didn’t see him maybe other people did! He might be alive, Roy! He could still be living in Harstermic! He could still be living in his house and eating what’s left in the cupboards.” “Aleana, the dragons destroyed the city a while ago. I doubt he could still be living there.” Tears rolled down the girls face. “I know…I just can’t help but think he’s alive…my whole family…Now him…” The old woman watched the girl cry. She entered the restrooms that were behind the counter and looked into every stall to make sure no one was there. She was morphing into a smaller, younger figure. With brown hair and green eyes. “Oh Amory. You’ve done something terrible. You’re going to watch her fall in love with someone else, and it will leave you nothing but sorrow,” she said. Callan exited the bathroom and stared at the two on the floor. She crossed her arms and leaned against the wall, and smiled. At least her story gave her a happy ending. Well, sorta. She thought. She slowly walked out of the building and turned to the left. Garron was leaning up against the wall with his arms crossed. “How is she?” he questioned, following his younger sister. “She’s fine. She just found out about her friend Shiro. Other than that she’ll be okay.” The girl sighed. “Why are we watching over her, Garron?” “In case something happens to her. We’ll be able to inform Amory.” He gave a smile that was very wide. “We’ll be like her Guardian Angel…er…Angels. Even though we’re technically that already…Still.” Callan nodded. “Yeah, I guess you’re right. But hey, Amory doesn’t want anything to do with her? So, why are we watching her, being her “Guardian Angels” and telling Amory what happens to her?” “Do you honestly believe he doesn’t want her to be part of his life? He’s insane, I tell you. Well, when the time comes when he realizes he can’t live without her, he’ll be able to go and tell her everything that happened.” The girl raised an eyebrow and shook her head, placing her hands on her hips. “What makes you think Aleana would believe him? And it’s obvious that the guy she’s talking to likes her. Oh yeah, may I add that she’s going to stay at his place with his family.” Garron looked down at his feet. “She’s going to fall in love with him! If Amory and the others find out, what will they think? Would you have to give her memory back?” She paused. “Can you do that?” The man shook his head no. “I cannot.” “Oh…Well, I guess we can only do one thing.” She looked up at her brother. “We have to do our best to make sure nothing bad happens to her, and make sure that Roy guy doesn’t leave her a shattered heart. As they say, a broken heart can be repaired, but a shattered heart takes time to mend.”
