Chapter 9
Garron hesitated to walk up the stairs. He wasn’t being serious, was he? By the look of Amory’s eye he was. Could Garron do this? He knew that his brother was very fond of that certain girl. Doing this task would ruin Amory’s chances of finding a mate. But then again, being mates with a human is not forbidden; it would just bring disgrace on the Guardians. It would show that the certain Guardian, who was partnered with a human, was weak. This is probably why Amory wants this whole situation to happen. So he wouldn’t be shown as useless. Fine, if he wants this to happen then it’s his choice. Garron won’t stop this. He’ll let his brother do it. Let him make the choice. Every choice he makes will affect him in some way or another. The man turned the corner. Almost there. Sweat was rolling down his neck. In a few moments he’ll be in the room where the girls are. He can see their faces already. Depressed, yet angry. Their eyes would be full of sorrow. What would Aleana be feeling? Through out this whole experience with them, she has grown feelings for Amory. Garron saw that too. Even though the girl tried to hide it, it was obvious to everyone, but she was just too oblivious to see it herself. Is she hurt? Is she angry? Is she sad? What could be going through her mind at a time like this? What would she be saying to Sere about this situation? Garron opened the door to the room and walked in. Serenity was sitting on the bed to the left while Aleana sat on the bed to the right. Their look was just how Garron pictured it. Filled with mixed emotions. “Ready?” he questioned, standing in the middle of the room. The two nodded their heads. Aleana seemed to be tearing up as she wiped her eyes clean. This was it. It’s going to be all over now, and she never got to ask them the question that she’s been dying to know the answer to. “Who’s first?” Garron asked, his hands on his hips. The girls looked at each other; waiting for one of them to respond to Garron’s question. Neither of them did, until Aleana spoke up. “I will,” she said. Her voice choked when she said those words. Was she ready for this to happen? Garron sighed. “All right.” He walked over to her, and stood before her. “This is going to hurt. It’s just going to be a strong wave going through your head and you’ll have a strong headache. Not that you’ll remember how you got the headache.” This only made it worse for Aleana to handle. She started sniffling and holding back the tears that were so eager to come out and be free. The chain around her neck felt like a hundred pounds, and her heart sank into her gut. Why am I feeling this way, she asked herself. You knew that they were going to erase your memory when you eaves dropped on Skitz and Amory’s conversation the other day, and you were fine then. What made you change your mind? She glanced at the doorway and saw a young man standing there. He made her feel this way! He’s the one who persuaded her to feel what she was feeling. His look and charm got the best of her. I guess he did then. He did get the best of me, Aleana thought. The girl knew what she was saying. She knew what she was feeling and how it came to be. She finally admitted it to herself. Amory’s lips quivered into a small frown. He’s going to watch her. He’s going to watch her forget she ever knew him. Sad really. That he won’t stop this. When she loses her memory, he’s going to forget that he ever met these two. Serenity was observing the moment. The emotions on their faces. Especially Amory’s. Why was he frowning? He should be happy that this was happening. His order is finally going to be given to him. Garron placed his hand on top of Aleana’s head. “Do you have anything to say before I do this deed?” he asked. The girl began to bawl. Her tears rolled down her face uncontrollably. They rolled off her chin and onto her jeans. She sniffled and took a deep breath to gain the control over herself again. “Yes,” she whispered. Aleana closed her eyes and pushed two tears from her eyes. “Amory…” The others grew wide-eyed, waiting for what she was going to say. Skitz appeared next to Amory now. He was quite interested on what was happening. He wanted to see how the memories from a person can be erased, and he curious of how Aleana was going to finish her sentence. “Amory, I…” Aleana began to cry once more and in a quiet whisper that could be heard through out the room she said, “Amory, I love you.” Garron pinched his eyes shut. “Forgive me,” he said. Then, in an instant, Aleana flung her head back and landed flat on the bed. She cried a last tear that made a stain on the red covers of the bed. Her hair covered her eyes as if it were saying, “Don’t look at me.” All was quiet. No one said anything. Garron glanced over to his brother. Once he did Skitz and Serenity did the same. Amory’s reaction was blank. His eyes were halfway open and his mouth was as straight as a line. Nothing was going through his mind except, why? Why did he have to do this? Why didn’t Garron stop him? Why didn’t his friend knock some sense into him? Why didn’t they? Why? “Amory, do you want me to do the same to Sere?” Garron questioned. The boy gulped. “No. Just make sure she won’t tell anyone. Make her promise in her blood.” “What about Aleana? What do we do with her?” “Give her to Kaitlyn. She’ll know what to do. Now, if you’ll please excuse me.” Amory turned, walking down the hallway, down the stairs. Skitz followed him. “Man, I told you you’ll regret it,” he said as he shook his head in disappointment. “I told you. Look at you now; you’re upset. Don’t tell me you’re not ‘cause I know you are. Amory exploded on him. “I’m not! Leave me alone! I’ve had enough stress on me already! Now I don’t need grief from my friend, alright!” “Yes sir!” The young man scoffed as he walked out the front door. “I’m leaving,” he said. He had to clear his head. He had to! The moment kept on repeating in his head over and over again, and again, non-stop. This wasn’t fair! How come it had to happen to him? Out of all the Guardians and human beings on this planet, it just happened to him. Him! What were the chances? He felt horrible, yes, but he wasn’t going to admit it. He wanted this to happen, remember? He demanded for this! If Garron didn’t go with it, he would have thrown a fit just like a child. That’s right. He was being childish, getting what he wanted then running away from his problems. Was that what a Guardian is for? Being childish? No, they’re the human’s protection. Their armor! Amory flew to his cave. Someplace he knew he would be safe. Safe and sound. Peaceful. Wonderful. Alone. Where he can think. He landed and sauntered into his cave. He looked around with his hands on his hips, and then he sighed. Amory walked over to the bed and stared at it. This is where she slept, and this is where he kissed her on her forehead. “Pitiful, Amory. Very pitiful,” Callan said, on the couch with her legs crossed. She looked exactly the same. Black Capri’s and her green top. Amory jumped in shock. “When did you get here?” “I’ve been here. I’ve been staying here ever since you brought your friend here. You were too deep in thought to see me. I heard what happened about Aleana. Why’d you do it? You know you don’t have that long to find yourself a mate. You have only two to three weeks.” “Why does everyone that talks about Aleana always bring up that subject? I’m getting sick of it! That’s one reason why I had her memory erased! I was going to have Sere’s erased too, but I changed my mind.” Callan got up and rested her hands on his shoulders. “I’m scared for you, Amory. I truly am. I don’t want you to become a murderer. I’d rather have you be mates with a human if it means you will complete your prophecy.” “Callan…I think…I think you are being serious about this. Are you?” “Yes, I am.” “But you-“ “I know I hate humans, and I think they’re untrustworthy, but I don’t care! If you love her then all of my opinions don’t matter! I want the best for you, brother. I really do.” Amory’s eyes softened. He realized that Callan would deal with anything as long as it means that he’s happy. He truly is lucky for having such a wonderful sibling who cares about him. “You do love her, right?” The boy froze. “No, I don’t,” he said. The girl looked straight in his eyes. “Don’t lie to yourself, Amory. It’s not healthy for you.” “I’m not! I don’t love her! If a Guardian loves a human it considers themselves weak, powerless, useless! And I’m not that! I will never become that. Never.” “Stop thinking it’s all about power, Amory! You’ll become a Weapon if you keep on doing so.” Amory flew his hands up. “You don’t think I know that? I just got stress on me. That’s all. I’m fine. Hey, do you want to come back home with me? It would be better than staying here, and I’m sure Sere would want a female to be around so she could talk to someone.” Callan nodded. “By the way, bats came in the other day.”
