Shreeder's Lifestyle Here and Afar
This journal is my life, which is very crazy, and currently in Japan!
I'm Back!
So finally, this journal entry date corresponds with the actual date I am writing it. Today I apologized to my homestay and woke up rather late, so I rushed to work after eating my bread, and I realized that, Hey, I'm part of the Television news crew now.

After partying in Osaka, my casual speech improved a lot, but my formal speech began to deteriorate, so I need to re-work on that I guess hahaha, because speaking that way in the work place is not so good. I find out that I will be interviewing my Japanese teacher from Princeton on the radio this wednesday, so I really need to brush up on my super-formal form of speaking (Keigo).

So today, I eat lunch by myself and write the incredibly lengthy journal entries that preceded this one, which, lemme tell you, took a whole lot of time. I find out that nothing really happens in the Television department in the morning, but in the afternoon I went and got to watch a guy make and edit a CG opening to the news show, which was absolutely fascinating because the technology was ridiculous! But the guy was really cool, and we talking for a while while the Rendering was being done, for it takes a while. He said he really wants to work at Pixar and go to an American school, but he needs money for that, which he doesnt have, and he would need experience on better equipment, which MRO television doesnt have, so he's stuck hahah. Also, we started to talk about Japanese music and dance, and he told me back in the day there was a ton of dance and rap in Kanazawa, but it got less and less, until now all that remains is 8-hall pretty much.

But this guy tells me that he used to Rap and DJ back in the day because he hurt himself doing a windmill and hasnt breaked since hahah. He said that rap used to be gangster rap, like America, but now Japanese rap has gotten very happy and original, as opposed to all the other unoriginal genres of Japanese music (which is full of American elements).

After talking for a bit, I found out that his Mother, Ms. Kawata, was one of the teachers that tought me Japanese last year in the PII program hahahah This small world thing is AMAZING. Eventually we get to the point where there is an hour long rendering, so I say goodbye and then go to the News story editing department where I get to use the crazy technology and edit stories for the news, which was actually really fun. The story had Fukui people using fishnets and catching everything from hundreds of sardines, to THOUSANDS of jellyfish, and even a couple puffers and squid. The kids loved touching the squid because the suckers stuck to their hands hahahah Next was a clip about Fukui's hands on Aquarium, but it only made me remember how amazing the Osaka Kaiyukan Aquarium was.

After work, I set out for the dance studio, and meet up with Penny and Michelle, and Penny makes fun of me because of Thursday night hahahah. I finally get to find out what happened to me after I went to the hotel, and apparantly, I DID see Jon and Penny before they left, because they thought I was dead. The hotel actually let them come into the room to check on me hahahah Ridiculous.

So we start to break, and its packed, so I nearly kick this poor Japanese girl in the face at least 40 times. We then are allowed to watch the beginner hip hop class, but it is basically a one move at a time learning process, so its lame and we leave.

So, what else is there about today? Not much! Breaking was fun, and I pulled my Butt muscle, but thats about it hahahah

There's a dance competition 7/25.... and the prize is 100,000yen. Thats 1,000 bucks.

Hmmmm.

Dinner was small clams that my host mom caught during her break. Yummy yum yum.

Tomorrow, more television editing and prolly being incredibly sore again!
