Okay... I'm on day 2 of training Masamune, my Pearl Magikarp (which I hatched and got on level 1), and it looks like it's starting to pay off. She's on level 20 right now. I spent about 100k already shoving Protein down her throat until she wouldn't eat them anymore, and I spent three hours yesterday fighting Shinx and Bidoofs just to get some HP and ATK EVs. And it's worth it. At one level up, she gained over 3 HP, 2 DEF, and 4 SPD. That was the most beautiful level up I've ever seen a Magikarp have, and ever since, most of her stats have been going up between +1 - +3. It's awesome.

Unfortunately, she still only has 19 ATK points. Seeing as how most pokemon on her level have over 25 - 38, you can see that her ineptitude is still showing. But I'm still going for it! Besides, her speed's over 45, and that's really high for her level right now. Her defense isn't too bad either (38 ).

Sadly, I can't use any more Proteins on her, so that leaves me in a bit of a pickle to raising her ATK to insane levels. I'll need to keep fighting Shinxes and other ATK EV-related monsters. I'll have to get on Serebii and see which ones do what. Should be a blast.

Good news is, Masamune can now kill anything under level 6. Bad news is, anything over level 10 will kill her in a couple of hits. I really need to get some DEF EVs so she stops dying on me so much. Or maybe some SPE DEF. She seriously needs some EVs there, because her special defense is the lowest stat she has.

I decided to scrap the Metronome after Vampire Lemons told me it only works in battle, and it resets after a battle. That's crap, man. So, I gave Masamune a Silk Scarf, which raises the power of Normal moves. Because Tackle is a normal move, this is a boon for her. She also gets a higher chance of critical hits. W00t!

So, in essence, I'm getting ready to really crunch in some training for Masamune. Soon, she'll be primed and ready to kick your a**, and nothing you can say will stop her. Are you read!?

Also, yes, I'm still working on training Excalibur. I just wanted to see if it's easier to level up on Pearl than on FireRed. The answer? Yes, it is.
