• Two children are playing together in the front yard. One is a girl. The other is a boy.
"Tag!" The girl takes off running as the boy chases after her. They seen to be about 5 years old. A small rock suddenly ends their game as the girl's foot collides with it.
"Ooooowww..." she cries, holding her big toe. The little boy runs over.
    "Are you okay?"
The girl's lower lip trembles as she shows him the injury. A small drop of ruby glistens on her toe.
"It's okay, I can fix it," The boy runs inside and gets her a Band-Aid. He wraps it carefully around the cut and kisses it. The girl smiles.
" It's all better now," he assures her.

A few years later, two teenagers are standing in a school courtyard. They seem to be fighting.
"No, I'm sorry!" a girls sobs, tears ruining her perfect makeup. The other person, a boy, looks annoyed.
"Whatever," he says, and starts to leave.
Another boy drifts up, a concerned look in his eyes.
    " Um... are you okay?"
The girl's lower lip trembles as she grabs the boy's shoulder.
"He broke up with me!" she wails. The boy comfortingly wraps his arm around her as he reaches in to his bag.
"I can fix it..." a smile stretches across his face as he throws a well-aimed baseball at the other boy.
    "Ow!!"

Ten years later, a young man recieves an urgent call from his mother.
"Honey, it's your wife. She's in the Emergency Room."
The man drives as fast as he can and reaches his wife. She is hooked up to machines and is breathing heavily.
A look of absolute pain crosses his face. He kneels by her cot and whispers softly,
    "I can fix it,"
His wife smiles, and weakly puts her hand into his.
"You've already fixed me enough," she breathes, and it is her last.
