A few weeks passed and Val found himself feeling alone. His mother was having difficulties coming back so he remained home alone for a while.
Hero wasn't around much. Val only had to deal with him in science class and even then he noticed something was off. Hero was distance with him the whole time. One science class, as they were doing a lab with one another he hadn't said one word to Val. It was as though he had angered him in some form.
During lunch one afternoon, Val sat alone at the same tree he had kissed Hero under. The leaves blocked the suns hateful glare as he sat there guarded by the shade. He had a good clear view of the groups out at the lunch tables. Everyone mingling and gossiping about others behind their back. Valentine was actually searching for someone with his eyes, not anyone, but Hero himself. He did this often since the last time they really had a conversation.
Just as Val was about to give up on his search, his eye caught a glimpse of Hero standing by another tree in the distance. Quickly he rose, not being able to contain that urge to run up to him and talk. He took a step forward before stopping. A girl had run up to him before he could even take a few steps.
He stood there watching the two chat away. His heart sinking back in his throat. He couldn't understand why the image was making him jealous, making him mad, making him want hero for himself and no one else though he had treated him unkindly at his house.
Hero talked away with the girl and smiled a few times, laughed, and leaned against the tree he was standing by. The conversation came to an end and Val watched as the girl kissed Hero on the cheek and run off. Hero's reaction was far from what Val had thought he would do. Instead Hero stood there with a grin on his face, a relaxed figure, something Val had not imagined at all.
Val stood frozen in his spot. It seemed as though the whole world had stopped, if it wasn't for Hero's gaze at him suddenly, Val would still be in that same spot. He turned on his heel and ran, ran as far and fast as his legs could take him.
Hero's smile faded and his gaze fell on the grass. His heart ached as much as Val's but he didn't know how to explain what just happened. He let Val run, to the place he felt secure in, his house, his bedroom.
Val ran down the street, faster then he usually ran. He wanted to be home, he wanted to be in his bed surrounded by his belongings. Val could feel his body become tense as he ran, he knew it was a bad sign, however he didn't do anything about it knowing he was gaining closer to his home. It took him about 15 minutes to get back home in the middle of the day. He rushed into his home and dashed for his room.
He made it to the top of the stair case before his legs caved on him, causing him to trip and began his head on one of the stairs, knocking him out. Val lay there, nearly to his room, to the place he could feel like he could let everything out...
