My Valentine (part 7) by R&Z
Val walked home after school alone with his pack over his shoulder and his hands stuffed into his pockets. It was unclear to what he was feeling, seeing as how the expression on his face was blank. He was deep within his thoughts, gathering all the days he had with Hero. It was strange to him how Hero walked into the store out of the blue and then turned up again at the festival. "I've got to stop thinking about all the times we met!..." Val said looking up as a lone car drove down the long narrow street.

Upon arriving to his home he found a note posted to the door. It read that his mother was out visiting his aunt and he would be alone for a few days. "Oh great...Now I have to do my own cooking..." Val said unpleased at the situation. On the other hand he could go stay with a friend...then again, he thought, he didn't have many guy friends and all the girls probably would slip into his bed at night if he bothered to stay at their homes.

That evening Val stayed up doing homework, practicing basketball in the yard and cleaning the house up as usual. While he cleaned up the kitchen there was a knock at his door. Hero was standing on the other side of the door waiting for Valentine to greet him.

Val opened the door and stared blankly at Hero who was grinning lightly at him. His presence was not what Val wanted at the moment, not to mention he figured out where he lived. "How-" Valentine found himself being cut off as Hero entered and spoke. "Don't ask any further, my you have a lovely home here." Val slammed the door shut and turned to face Hero who was looking good as usual. "Why the hell are you here? Don't you something better to do then to bug me?" Val said coldly as he rubbed his hands over his jeans trying to get them dry.

Hero sighed and entered the living room, knowing very well Valentine was right behind him suspecting he was up to something. "You're not a very good host I can see...I just wanted to drop by and say hello. See what you do here for fun...Do you live alone?" He asked changing the subject. Val didn't answer by words, but by staring at the picture of his mother and new sister by the fireplace. Hero turned to find Val's gaze on the picture and smiled. "Well...that answers my question. I have another..." Hero said as he sat down on the couch.

Val waited patiently for the next question, hoping it was going to be Hero's last. "Are you dating anyone and why are you always so cold to me?" Hero blurted out at last looking around the room. "That's two questions and it's none of your business who I see! I don't even know you!" Val said angered. "Oh come now, you know me, that's three day's in a row we've met and each time a wonderful day for me." Hero said showing a small grin to Valentine.

The room was silent for a moment before Val walked over to the couch and threw his dirty wash cloth into Hero's lap. "Shut up and just leave alright." Val was to the point where Hero was getting onto his last nerves though he secretly wanted to say how much he enjoyed the last two days with him. Hero held up the cloth and set it down on the table grabbing Val's hand and pulling him down on top of him. "Not until you tell me why the anger toward me."

Val's immediate reaction was to pull away however that seemed to have failed and he began to blush a rosy red. Hero put his free hand over Val's soft rosy cheek and leaned in closer. "I'm here for you to break free once again...You're my Valentine...from years before...you were never like this..." Hero whispered knowing something Val had forgotten long ago before his father had left his mother. Val had blocked out everyone and all his memories of when his father was around to create new memories with his mother.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about, I've never seen you before in my life!" Val tried to make sense of things. Who was this guy to him, that was the one question that ran through his mind. "Valentine...why did you block me of all people in your life out when your father left? Why did you toss me aside..." Hero asked running his fingers through Val's hair as he spoke. "You were my Valentine back in grade 3...you gave me a heart shape cut out...and a small Hershey kiss...You made me feel wonderful..." Hero tried to get Val to remember but it was no use. Val struggled to get back and away from Hero. "Stop it! Stop trying to make me remember when my father was around! Your not important now and you most likely were not when father was around!"

Hero's eyes widened and he let Valentine's hand go. He fell silent and stood up to leave Val's home. "I thought..." Hero began to say. "I thought that...you would remember me when we met again...I was sure of it...I thought you would love me once more like you did back then..." Hero said walking toward the door with his head lowered.

Val followed keeping his distance from Hero. He felt his heart ache inside his chest wanting to tell Hero he was sorry but other things kept him from doing so. His blockade was falling to pieces as he got closer to Hero. However nothing was clear to him at this point.

"Maybe later we could..." Hero started as he opened the door to make his exit. "Make new memories..." Val listened to the words and found them ringing in his mind.

(to be continues)

...Oh my god....please forgive me, this is the worst thing I have ever written...To clear some things up...

Q: why is Valentine so cold and always mean to Hero
A: He really doesn't want to be, but he's still in a bit of shock that a boy took his first kiss.

Q: Hero said they had been together before..what's going on?
A: Valentine blocked out everything when his father left. When his father left so did Hero, he moved away a month before Valentines father. So yes, they knew each other before

I know it's confusing but just get it this: Val and Hero were best friends and yes Val loved Hero. Once Hero left, a month before, Val's father left his mother to rot away with Val. Val promised himself he would block out everyone who had been part of his life when his father had been around, to rid the hurt he felt.

AWW.... Such a sad scene... but as usual you take the cake when it comes to writing stories in your journal... XD have to admit though that the explanation wasn't really necessary at the end but it was a plus just in case people with my oodles of common sense read your journal. Please continue I would like to see what happens as the plot thickens...

As usual the first to read and comment
