“Well that was great fun! So how about you tell me, why the heck were we doing that?!” Derrick asked in an annoyed tone.
“I need to get him out of here.” Carina said.
“Yeah, that much is obvious, I want to know why? He really shouldn’t be leaving the hospital yet.”
Carina sighed and answered, “I can’t really tell you why, Derrick.”
“Why not?! Why does everything about you have to be so secretive?!” Carina didn’t answer. They sat in silence with Derrick staring at Carina and Carina staring at the floor. “You know what, this is stupid. I didn’t even want to do this in the first place.” Derrick said quietly as he stood up from the bench. Carina felt bad for Derrick as she watched him walk away. She felt bad for taking away his best friend. She lowered her head into her hands and sat in silence.
Doctor Skippy threw open the door to room 815 and whipped Harrold inside.
“What is your problem?!” Harrold yelled. The walk to his new room was very painful and Doctor Skippy seemed to toss him around at any chance he got. “I thought doctors were supposed to take the pain away!”
“Like I care.” Doctor Skippy said in a bored voice as he closed the door to the room.
“Wow, what a nice doctor I have!” Harrold said sarcastically as he sat down on the edge of the hospital bed. He tried to figure out what he was supposed to do now. Derrick paused at the exit door; he looked back over his shoulder and tried to decide if he should turn back. Carina lifted her head out of her hands and started to plan her next move.
Carina stood up and ran to another map, scanning it for the number 815. After looking over the confusing diagram at least twice, she finally found where she was and how to get to Harrold’s room. She started to run in that direction, but stopped shortly after. She decided running wildly in the direction of Harrold’s room would look a tad bit suspicious. She continued her journey in a casual, but fast walk.
When she rounded a corner Carina practically fell down trying to scramble back around it. Doctor Skippy was talking to another nurse behind another desk. Harrold’s room was right next to them. Carina peered back around the corner to take another look at Doctor Skippy. He was leaning against the desk as he was talking. A cup of coffee was placed next to him. It didn’t look like he was going anywhere anytime soon.
Carina came up with a plan that didn’t guarantee her entry into the room, but it was worth a try. It was all she could think of now. She flipped her hair over her shoulder and walked as gracefully as she could around the corner.
