The nurse looked up and smiled as she approached, but Doctor Skippy’s attention was elsewhere.
“Hi! Do you think I could visit a friend in room 815, um, Whitney?” Carina asked after reading the nurse’s nametag. The sudden sound of her voice got Doctor Skippy’s attention.
“Hey! She can’t go in there!” Doctor Skippy yelled as he recognized Carina as the hooligan he had to take care of earlier.
“Well, why not?” Nurse Whitney asked, looking confused.
“She’s trying to help him escape!”
“Why would I do that? I want to make sure my friend gets perfectly well again. He’s a very special friend.” Carina winked at Nurse Whitney.
“Oh!” She grinned at Carina and the two giggled. Doctor Skippy was outraged.
“Well I’m not going to allow it!” He protested.
“Oh, but doctor, I really must see him!” Carina begged as she put on her best pouty face.
“I think it’ll be alright if she just goes in for a little.” Carina had succeeded in winning Nurse Whitney over, but Doctor Skippy wouldn’t budge. As he was about to protest yet again, they were interrupted as a patient was rushed past them, doctors trailing behind. One of the doctors stopped in front of them and put a hand on Doctor Skippy’s shoulder.
“We’re gonna need some help with this one. Motorcycle crash.” Doctor Skippy was then dragged off with the patient, and Carina was free to enter Harrold’s room.
She burst through the door and skidded to a stop by Harrold’s bed. Harrold looked up and smiled as he saw Carina standing there.
“We have to hurry, Doctor Skippy’s just been called in for some patient so this could be our only other chance.”
“Right.” Harrold stood up and started towards the door, but stopped when Carina wasn’t following. “What are you waiting for?”
“How come he didn’t hook you up to an IV or something like that?” Carina asked.
“Who cares? He was probably too wrapped up in his own life to bother.”
“Yeah, but still--,”
“Well hasn’t this been a wonderful reunion? It really touched my heart! Now it’s time for you to go!” Doctor Skippy pointed to Carina and started walking towards her.
“Why don’t you go get a friggin life and stay out of mine?!” Carina yelled. Harrold’s mouth dropped open. Doctor Skippy stopped in his tracks. Carina was mad. And when Carina’s mad, you don’t mess with her.
“Hey, you have no right to yell at me I could throw you out of this hospital!”
“Your acting skills really suck you know that doctor. You had me going for a second but your stupid little mind couldn’t possibly come up with anything good enough to save your identity! I know what you are and if you don’t get out of my way I swear to God I’ll kill you!”
“She knows what he is…?” Harrold whispered to himself from the sidelines.
“Ok, I tried to play it cool, but now you’re gonna get it!” Doctor Skippy walked over to the door and closed it. Harrold just stood and watched as Doctor Skippy and Carina had a stare down.
