Shreeder's Lifestyle Here and Afar
This journal is my life, which is very crazy, and currently in Japan!
Day 2) Sightseeing and Drinking Games: Osaka
So at 10pm, I met up with Penny and Jon and we decided to head to Osaka Castle, which was close-by on a train. I had the JR Rail Pass, so I could ride any train I wanted, and away we went. The castle looked so impressive, and Penny was impressed by the moat that appeared to not flow, so she kept saying that the fishermen were going to die if they ate the fish. I munched down on a SaruSoba nearby and we started our 3 hour storming of the castle. Penny loves her cats, but I was quite fond of these two Weiner Dogs that started storming the castle with us. This part, lemme cut short. We took billions of pictures, ate some food, bought some souveniers, and stuck our heads in those samurai cut outs and stuff, which was hilarious. We then saw a brick, European looking castle that we eventually found out was the old Osaka Museum, but we took pics of and plan to lie to our friends and say that is the true Osaka Castle hahah

I was surprised to find out that the inside of the castle was a modern style museum, that contained Samurai swords, historical information, artifacts, replicas, etc. They had golden tea rooms, but the most impressive things were definitely the swords. Sadly, they didnt allow pictures grrrr. But the view from the top of the castle was impressive, and we took many pictures. I ran into these two American blondes at the Stamp machine, and we joked around for a bit (thats important for later, so remember that!).
Jon really loved the historical section because they used projectors on a screen in front of replicas of the Osaka area, so it looked like there were people and stuff actually running around hills and stuff. It looked really neat, and I couldnt figure out how they did it! hahah
So we were at a loss of what to do next, and I suggested the Aquarium, but eventually we decided against it and took a river boat tour, which was surprisingly lame. On the boat, I had 1 beer (start the count, cuz this was THE night of drinking) and looked at the river, mostly at homeless peoples 'houses' and at cool bridges. The boat also was only a meter tall when it Shrunk. Yes, the boat had the ability to shrink to fit under low bridges, which was cool, but pointless for us who wanted to see sights of Osaka.
So after, we snagged some dinner really early (mark this, I didnt eat for a while....), which was chinese food cuz Jon didnt wanna spend money lol. So finally, we set out for the Sky Garden, and we went there through a 300m long underground tunnel and then set out from the bottom to 40-42 stories up. To get there, you need to go on an escalator 35ish stories up, inbetween two Twin Towers, which was riidiiiiculous. At the top, Penny, Jon, and I wrote some Tanabata wishes, and put them on the trees. There were souvenier shops and a Japanese Soccer bar, but the the tippy top was the observation deck and... no Garden!? It was just a place to look out at Osaka, and it was Amazing. The city was so big stretching as far as the eye could see in every direction (mostly because of the clouds at the mountains. I found out later that it wasnt as big as I thought), and the eventually sunset and nightime skyline were really a sight to see. Penny stared at the sunset for about 2 hours, and I went to the bathroom and came back only to be pestered by Jon and Penny that I missed the 'flash' of the sunset, and the most beautiful thing ever. Eventually that story became that I missed the Japanese rising sun pattern and that every Japanese person in Osaka launched a battle cry at once, all while I was in the bathroom. lol

Okay. Here is where my night gets ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. If you dont want to know how much I drank or what eventually happened, because of a weak heart, stop reading. But this was one of the best nights of my entire life. Read on!

So we go to a Sake store, grab some beers and head to Hotel Kinki. From there, while hearing an annoying a** cat from a nearby building, I have a cup of Penny's Sake and two 500ml beers. (Beer x3, Sakex1). So then we head out, and Jon takes some dragon pics, and we find a fun bar which had some weird name that I forgot, and I was too tipsy to remember where it was. Anyway, at that bar, which had a big saxophone in it, I explained to the bar tender how to make a mudslide. Also, during this, I may of had a beer. (Beer x4? Sakex1 Mudslide x2) The second mudslide was retardedly strong, but that guy made some of the best mudslides I have ever tasted. Penny loved the way the guy shook the drinks hahahah. So after that, we went right back to Pure Wood and sat at the bar.

The chaos begins. Here is where I met in full detail, the bartenders Waka (30ish) and Yuuki (24). So about 3 more beers in (Beer x7?), we start chatting it up haaardcore, and Jon and this girl Nao are talking alot, and Yuuki says she is his English teacher lol. She is awesome, but already had a boyfriend, which I definitely told her I was upset about hahah. He is working now in New Zealand, and she had a pic on her cellphone to show me. Then a Argentinian came in, named Martin, and he talked to me in english about his Tango band (which I found out is really famous) and he gave me his email and everything (which I lost promptly, damn). I never saw Martin again after that night and I wish him the best on his tour.
HOWEVER, Nao starts playing Japanese drinking games, consisting of songs and a game with your fingers. The song sounded fun, so I joined in on my way to the bathroom and had a shot of Tequila. (Beer x7ish, Sakex1, Mudslidex2, Tequilax1). Next, the japanese guy next to me plays the game with the fingers twice, and I think I lose both times but drink once. Thats two tequilas mind you. When I think back on it, why was I standing at this point, I dont know. BUT my Japanese was prolly closer to fluent than it has ever been.
Nao starts calling herself Jasmine, and eventually stumbles into the bathroom and begins her throw up dance. We have more fun with the bartenders, and Nao eventually comes out, falls down at a bench, and drinks some water while falling asleep. I sorta fall on the Japanese guy and Nao, but thats fine. lolThe bar is gonna close, so Penny takes me out of the bar, and I remember it being incredibly light out (it was like 4-5am) and then I also remember almost running into a wall. Jon goes back to hotel kinki (I guess...) and Penny walks me back home and I barely remember anything except telling her if she wanted to she could sleep in my place. I was supposed to be meet them at 10am to go to Osaka, but... I think I started to get sick, not really sure.

But wow, what a great time. Beer x 7ish, Sake x1, Mudslide x2, Tequila x2ish. Tomorrow was bound to hurt so much....
