“How did you do-“
“Eternal day and eternal night,” I cut off Eric and ran to the door. I rushed the door open and found the night sky.
People were rioting on the planks; bottles of who-knows-what were flying through the air, and the chanting of ‘Fight! Fight! Fight,’ came echoing under the full moon light. The buildings were still standing but falling apart with odd reeds sticking out of them wildly, and the current of the ocean steadily shook the town beneath my feet.
“Get back in here before they see you,” Kane yelled from behind me as something gripped my sides and hurled me back into the chair I was sitting in. “I can’t believe your stupidity,” Kane stressed as he motion his hand in the direction of the door. It closed swiftly and silently.
“What was that,” Eric stared at Kane bright eyed.
“Some people in Gaia, like myself, can manipulate a balancing element,” Kane answered quickly. “And, I am not explaining anymore than that!”
Eric’s mouth was left open.
“Was that Torrentia,” I asked in shock.
“What do you think,” Kane snapped.
“What,” Terra interjected. “You meant the world was split in two!?” She rested her head on her hand. “That just can’t be possible,” she whispered.
“Wait,” Ruby started. “You’re telling us that we have to fix this to get home?” Kane merely nodded his head with his eyes closed as her head hit the table.
“But, before you guys get any bright ideas,” Kane said sternly, “I have to finish getting you guys ready.” He gripped his sword handle again and smashed the devil-like statue to pieces. Then he reattached his blade to his back and searched the rubble for three more books. “Before you open these,” he started as he passed a book to Eric and one to Ruby, “we had better leave before-“ “Who’s here!?”
Our attention instantly turned to the door that was suddenly burst open by buffed up surfer in swim trunks.
Kane slammed the book he was holding in front of Chris and reached for his blade again.
“Hold on,” Terra stood up. “Let me handle him.”
Eric called out, “Kane! Have a seat.”
Kane stared at Eric and Terra oddly before he had a seat next to Eric. Then our attention turned to Terra.
“Knock him dead Terra,” Ruby yelled.
“Show ‘em what a girl can do, YEAH,” Aqua cheered.
“Go for the kidney,” Chris shouted.
“There are sometimes when I wonder about you guys,” I muttered under my breath. “Oh well, looks like this guy’s in for it.”
Kane leaned forward with his hands under his chin, “Okay, at least I won’t have to do a test.”
Test? What does he mean by test?
The cracking of knuckles brought me out of my mind as the muscle guy started laughing, “A girl? You’re kiddn’ me! You’re not even-“
Terra jammed her elbow into his gut and followed with a right hook into his face.
“Nice one,” Chris yelled.
“Look out,” Ruby shouted.
He recovered and made for a full on charge, and Terra stood at the ready. She caught his arm and threw him off balance into her knee. Then she landed a blow with her right fist into his chin, took another step on her left, round housed with her right leg, and sent him spiraling to the floor.
Chris, Aqua, Ruby, and Eric went wild, as Terra brushed back her hair and walked back to her seat.
“Nice job,” Kane complimented Terra. “Is he dead?”
“Unconscious,” Terra replied calmly as she took a seat. “Or, at least, I think he is.”
“I don’t know,” said Eric as he poked the guy’s body. “He looks dead to me.”
