They lifted the family-only restriction last night. It was really late, but I wasn't sleeping anyway. Visiting hours ended at eight, but I went to see Derek anyway...without their permission, I admit. Eh.

He was asleep when I came in, and I didn't have the heart to wake him up. He's gotten really thin, because whenever he tries to eat, he keeps coughing. So there was enough room in the bed for two people, and I stayed with him that night. The nurse told me to stick to regular visiting hours when I woke up. Damn.

I don't know. Derek's walking a thin line; the doctors say that there's a 50-50 chance of making it. In his x-rays, you can see this white spot where the pneumonia is interfering with his breathing.

He was ecstatic to see me though, so that was good.
